About the role:
The Engineering Team Lead is responsible to provide effective design solutions in the relevant product line portfolio across the complete engineering lifecycle, from design development to end of life.
The role incumbent requires a level of management and leadership in order to ensure the team is delivering engineering solutions that comply with JFD's engineering strategy, governance framework and processes as well as meeting safety, cost, quality, schedule, and compliance requirements.

Your key responsibilities will also include:
  • Lead an engineering team, delivering to the strategy, governance framework, systems, processes, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering design input across the engineering lifecycle on the associated product line and being accountable for the technical approvals conducted within their teams.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of technical files and product designs to ensure compliance with the latest standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Responsible for delivering the engineering scope and deliverables in accordance with JFD engineering processes within budget and schedule. This will include maintaining engineering reports such as scheduling, resource and capacity planning, performance reporting and corrective action status.
  • Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, supply chain, production, HSEQS, Bids to ensure the appropriate technical solution/specifications are provided and reviewed.
  • Management of team on performance, development/mentoring, resourcing accordingly to meet business needs, recruiting, onboarding, completing appraisals, allocation/delegation of work, compliance to internal and external standard & regulations as well as day to day management such as approval of holidays, sickness leave and time reporting.
  • Close liaison with counterpart Engineering Team Leads to instil best practice across engineering and to support resource sharing where necessary and drive continuous improvements.
  • Manage and support system safety reviews and the safe design, validation and certification of our products, technical risk registers and create mitigation plans and ensuring team complies with company safety policy's.
What do you need?
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant industry experience.
  • Post-graduate or professional qualification, e.g., chartered engineer status, desirable.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
  • Develop concepts and perform feasibility design studies.
  • Perform structural design and analysis.
  • Expertise in Trim and stability analyses, perform weight and stability analysis.
  • Expertise in deck layouts / load out plans.
  • Perform ship general arrangements and configuration drawings.
  • Support the preparation of class submittals.
  • Experience performing analyses of hull forms with knowledge of stability, hydrodynamic performance and seakeeping predictions.
  • Familiar with international Quality and Safety standards (ISO 9001, 45001 etc.)
  • Ability to apply regulatory body rules (Class Standards, National Standards, IMCA), ship specifications, and other technical guidance to develop conforming designs and modifications to ships and submersible vehicles.
