What you will be doing:

As a Senior Naval Architect, you'll lead project design and engineering efforts, ensuring alignment with ABL's quality and HSE standards. This role includes managing offshore structure designs, maintaining architectural integrity, and mentoring junior team members. You'll also collaborate with clients to achieve optimal project results. In addition, you will:
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals for bids and tender input.
  • Supervise (prepare) as required and assist in naval and structural engineering design, calculations and analysis pertaining to the project in accordance with international codes and standards.
  • Assist and/ or lead projects (as assigned by the manager) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the time frame, costs and quality standards established by ABL Group and/or the Client.
  • Responsible for the execution of projects and deliverables in accordance with quality and HSE standards.
  • Perform concept and detailed design analysis of various fixed/floating offshore structures.
  • Attend regular internal meetings and external / third party meetings as required.
  • Maintain responsibility for naval architectural integrity, prepare working forecasts, identifying change management plans, and corrective action as well as real time schedules.
  • Ensure all deliverables is carried out in accordance with ABL Group policies and procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews, audits and naval architectural related reviews.
  • Evaluate and prepares concept selection reports and basis for design.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide training, mentoring and motivation to subordinates and provide training to personnel new to the naval architectural systems analyses and design.
  • Other duties as assigned.
This role can be based in Mumbai or Chennai, India. The candidate must have ethe right to live and work in India. Requirement for onsite / offshore attendance for marine operations and time with clients.

  • Degree qualification in Naval Architecture or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of professional experience and relevant expertise with offshore fixed and mobile structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards to naval architectural analysis & designs.
  • Full understanding of classification societies and their design requirements.
  • Accustomed to leading a team in the execution of projects to a high standard on time and on budget.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Able to build strong commercial relationships with clients.
  • Knowledge of offshore/structural engineering analysis and design computer programs.
  • Attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy.
  • Results-orientated and client-focused.
  • Proactive and ability to show initiative in problem-solving.
  • Influential with business and people acumen.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable:
  • Master's degree or equivalent
  • Chartered engineer status or equivalent.
  • Field and design experience in various marine operations like loadout, transportation and installation of jackets, topsides, line pipes, subsea structures etc.
  • Interpretation of classification rules and clauses in the industrial standards associated with naval and structural engineering.
  • Resolving conflicts.
  • Motivate junior staff and train them for the next level.
