The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate, experienced and collaborative technical leader to work in our Maritime team who is highly motivated and has a desire to work on interesting and challenging coastal engineering projects.

Reporting to our Maritime team leader, you will work on a wide variety of projects both in the UK and internationally ranging across technical review of coastal engineering advice and design to technical leadership on the coastal elements of major projects for a wide range of clients from port authorities to public agencies and private companies such as offshore wind developers.

We are keen to recruit specialists who are curious to learn and not afraid to work across disciplines to deliver the best outcomes for our clients. While focussed on technical aspects, an important part of the role is to ensure the designs we provide deliver the outcomes needed for the customer and value for money.

As Technical Leader - Coastal Engineering, we are looking for someone who can provide excellence in technical leadership and expertise in coastal engineering to support clients and teams in solving the most complex technical challenges in the marine environment. Preferably the individual will have in depth experience across the design of coastal, port and offshore infrastructure, flood and coastal erosion risk management and numerical hydrodynamic modelling and will be able to evidence technical rigour.

The position offers to work alongside some of the most talented people who share your ambition to make a difference, scope for personal skills development together with being the example for more junior members of the team.

Is this role right for you?

The suitable candidate will have a relevant degree or masters-level qualification/ Chartered Engineer or equivalent.

Excellent knowledge of coastal engineering and have practical experience of leading application in this field. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate depth of knowledge in the design of coastal, port and offshore infrastructure, flood and coastal erosion risk management and experience in numerical hydrodynamic modelling.

We are seeking he following skills and and experience;
  • Skills to lead and project manage multidiscipline teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • You will have experience in developing staff through training, mentoring and coaching activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate purposeful relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • You are an innovator and in addition, you will have had experience in training teams that encourage innovation.
