IMRS forms part of the Services Delivery Business Unit within Submarines. Our busy Engineering team is responsible for developing and deploying tailored repair and maintenance solutions to support the in-service maintenance of the UK submarine fleet, as well as support to submarine design and build programmes. As a RVI Engineer, you will provide both practical and technical support to inspection development and implementation projects, although primarily based in Derby, as a RVI Engineer within IMRS, you will be required to support inspections across the UK and potentially on offshore platforms or abroad. What your new role will entail; <ul><li>Be a Subject Matter Expert: you will provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, internally and externally. You will direct inputs to a wide range of workstreams and deliverables across a broad range of projects including involvement in the full EIA or DCO development cycle of major projects. You will be delivering marine ecology impact assessments including ES chapters and associated assessments (HRA, MCZ and WFD) and information to support the full range of licence and permitting applications needed for marine based projects.</li><li>Ensure Quality: your role requires a critical eye for detail to ensure that our deliverables are produced to the highest quality standards and compliance with our rigorous quality management procedures. Responsibilities: The Controls Systems Engineer/PLC Engineer will play a vital role to design, specify for manufacture, test, commission, and support both bespoke and commercial off the shelf control system solutions. You'll review and agree high level functional and operational requirements including their testability. Your main responsibilities will include: <ul><li>Design and implement complex control system solutions to meet the high-level requirements, constraints or standards.</li><li>Working in a cross-disciplinary environment to develop solutions for new production and experimental test facilities; understanding functional requirements and performance capabilities of the system to facilitate effective system design.</li><li>Software Development: Write complex software modules from philosophy documents or transform obsolete control systems into modern, software-driven solutions.</li><li>Hardware Design: Design in detail new hardware solutions from concept documents such as P&amp;IDs, equipment schedule etc. for new installations as well as to replace outdated control systems or upgrade existing ones.</li><li>Problem-Solving: Identify and rectify issues during software/hardware integration testing and support the commissioning team during equipment/software installation.</li><li>Prepare technical reports and documentation to a standard compatible with engineering best practice.</li><li>Be the technical support to the supply chain, including the assessment of electrical and control system components and design definition updates. Also undertake the project planning and control to ensure cost and schedule adherence.</li></ul>Who we are looking for: Ideally you should have carried out a similar role in the industrial sector and have experience of the requirements in the manufacturing facilities and/or nuclear sector.
