Under the supervision of the Project / Maintenance Manager, the Marine Mechanic / Outside Machinist provides a varied range of duties associated with the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a variety of vessels / ships / boats / watercrafts including mechanical and outside machinist duties. Exhibits superior workmanship and focuses on a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with an emphasis on quality. Completes all tasks in accordance with local Safety, Environmental, and Health directives. Addresses customer concerns in a prompt professional and courteous manner. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: <ul><li>Performance of enhanced organizational level corrective and preventative maintenance on a wide range of tactical vessels / ships / boats / craft, and all types of vessel assemblies, systems and subsystems.</li><li>Repair or replace distillation plants, propulsion systems, generators, pumps, boilers, turbine engines, piping, hydraulics, air conditioning, steering control, valves, and fuel water testing.</li><li>Performance of corrective and preventative maintenance on outboard engines, marine engineering systems, water jet propulsion systems,</li><li>Management of boats, repair parts, tools, and ancillary equipment.</li><li>Maintain electronic service records and repair part inventories.</li><li>Operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, vehicle lifts, oil / water separators, air compressors, generators, and related equipment.</li><li>Conduct condition-based maintenance assessment of diesel and/or turbine engines.</li><li>Provide technical assistance, assessments / inspections as required</li><li>Assist with equipment grooms.</li><li>Observe / conduct cold / hot checks of equipment, note condition and parameters for any out of specification readings or settings. Conduct sea trials with vessels / ships / boats, as required.</li><li>Assist with the identification of parts and material needed to return equipment back to manufactures specifications.</li><li>Provide written briefs and reports as required.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Material &amp; Equipment Directly Used: <ul><li>Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge and fluency of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel). </li><li>Strong analytical skills.</li></ul>Working Environment &amp; Physical Activities: <ul><li>Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions.</li><li>Subject to both environmental conditions occurring inside and outside.</li><li>The worker is subject to noise and hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.</li><li>Light work. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.</li><li>Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.</li></ul>Qualifications Education: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required. <ul><li>High School Diploma</li></ul>Experience: <ul><li>Must be a Marine Mechanic with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy or US Coast Guard ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)</li><li>Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven. Under the supervision of the Project / Maintenance Manager, the Marine Electrician is responsible for coordinating and executing repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on including, but not limited to, indoor lighting systems; electrical systems and apparatus; main power distribution systems and panel boards; outdoor facility lighting; construction projects and HVAC systems, including on ships / vessels. The Marine Electrician installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ship and in shipyard facilities, following blueprints and wiring diagrams. Marine Electrician is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment, as well as inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or necessary repairs. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: <ul><li>Installs conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws, using hand tools, and threads wires through conduit to terminals, for example connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.</li><li>Performs maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits. Examine electrical system of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, like ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to confirm compatibility of system.</li><li>Installs and alters electrical systems aboard ships.</li><li>Strips insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron. Connects power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment. About the job Vessel Maintenance Officer (Diesel Engine) Responsible for repairing, overhauling and maintenance of the vessel main engine and its parts to prevent breakdowns that may cause delays in vessel operations.
