This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and imaginative water quality modeller to join an ambitious expert team in a role that will provide plenty of scope for technical development and career progression in the coming years through existing contracts and client relationships both in the UK and overseas. You will work within a core of scientific and engineering experts, supporting a range of clients, primarily from the water sector but also the energy and infrastructure sectors. Together, we will identify pollution sources, pathways, and impacts on sensitive receptors and develop engineered and nature-based solutions. The role encompasses scoping, data collection, development, execution, and presentation of multidimensional environmental water quality models. These models simulate the behaviour of reservoirs, lakes (Loughs and Lochs), transitional, and coastal waters. About You You will have extensive experience in 2D / 3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling and either have attained or be working towards chartered membership in a relevant professional institution. As an experienced professional, you are expected to work independently and with minimal supervision, with extensive relevant experience that includes the following: <ul> <li>A good understanding of numerical modelling equations and discretisation, 2D mesh generation</li> <li>Experience using numerical modelling software such as MIKE, Delft3D, and Telemac, with proven applications in relevant fields. This experience might include modelling hydrodynamics, multiphase flows, particle tracking, advection dispersion, water quality, and chemical processes.</li> <li>Ideally, you will also have a basic understanding of physicochemical water quality, as well asa good understanding of oceanography and the associated regulatory standards for fresh and/or marine waters.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills and the experience and confidence to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders working closely with clients, as well as other professional staff across multidisciplinary business groups.</li> </ul>We are proud of our culture. Senior Maritime Engineer

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team, lead models on a range of projects locally and nationally, and mentor and develop other business consultants. The role requires developing relationships with clients and regulators as well as management of varied and challenging projects. You will be a key contributor within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary consultancy operating across a diverse portfolio of projects. ABOUT YOU To excel in this role, you will possess a strong Bachelor's degree, ideally complemented by a higher degree, in a water-related discipline and significant consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeller. You will bring substantial expertise in conducting flood risk assessments in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and, where applicable, Technical Advice Note 15 (TAN 15). However, the primary emphasis of this position lies in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, frequently utilising software such as Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of the operational frameworks of the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales, as well as Lead Local Flood Authorities. You will possess up-to-date knowledge of current planning policies and procedures and the ability to leverage these to maximise client service and secure necessary approvals. As a self-motivated team player, you will exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills. You will be capable of working autonomously while effectively coordinating with your line manager's requirements; an understanding of the developer industry would also be considered a valuable asset.
