Assistant Hydrographic Surveyor

Fish and Aquaculture Technician - Fixed term contract (12 months)Salary: £24,435 - £25,611 (depending on experience and qualifications) Working Pattern: 12-month fixed term (37 hours per week, 52 weeks) Location: Sparsholt Campus Closing date: 26th August 2025We are looking for someone with a passion in fisheries and aquaculture to join University Centre Sparsholt's fishery and aquatics provision.The role will focus on supporting two specialist facilities: - Our Aquatic Research and Conservation Centre, where we train aquarists of the future. The Facility includes tropical aquaculture systems, research facilities and ornamental marine and freshwater aquaria. - Our Salmonid Rearing and Trials Centre, which includes a salmonid hatchery and on-growing unit, lab and fish processing area, and a trials unit with 72 tanks. The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, strong practical skills, and demonstrable experience in water quality, aquatic husbandry, record keeping and aquatic health monitoring. We also value excellent communication skills, a creative and flexible approach, and someone who can work well as part of a team of dedicated lecturers and technical staff. We would be particularly interested in candidates with an experience of salmonid nutrition research trials, or someone with the desire to develop their knowledge in this area to the level that they would be confident promoting research opportunities externally. In addition to overseeing the operation of the facilities, there may be opportunity for the postholder to contribute to the education of the next generation of aquarists by providing practical instruction and support to our students. Flood Risk Management-Consultant

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy multi-disciplinary coastal management team managing coastal flood and erosion risk on the south coast. Coastal Partners provides a Coastal Risk Management Service to five local authorities that reduces the risks to people, the developed and natural environment, from flooding and coastal erosion. With several exciting large-scale civil engineering projects in our portfolio, we are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Research team. Working within the Research team, you will be a coastal scientist/senior coastal scientist, helping to protect communities, the environment and shape our coastal landscape for future generations. By using your scientific knowledge, you will develop solutions by working across a variety of projects, with the opportunity to be involved in different aspects of coastal research, science and GIS analysis. The successful candidate will ideally have experience or interest in the following areas: Project Management Working across the wider Coastal Partners project portfolio, this role requires undertaking technical project management for coastal process studies to inform option appraisals and scheme design. This involves working with in-house Coastal Partners staff or external suppliers. The role also includes project management of Beach Management Plan production and external research projects, to better understand coastal processes through GIS analysis and modelling. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be good at report writing and presenting your results to a non-technical audience. Technical analysis and modelling skills Working in the research team, you will assist our tracer study service, undertake GIS analysis of data such as, aerial photography, lidar, topographic surveys, UAV data, bathymetry and habitat mapping. You will have a background in geomorphology and coastal processes and a hydro-dynamic understanding. Ideally you will have experience in sediment dynamics, overtopping of beaches and hard engineering structures; modelling; climate change, Beach Management Plan design and works; cliff erosion and landsliding. In terms of software, it will be advantageous if you have experience in ArcGIS, MIKE 21, Telemac, EUROTOP and Matlab. Your work will be diverse, working on the coastal process elements of our multi-million-pound projects that include an option appraisal for Selsey and beach management plan at Hayling Island and Southsea, along with smaller capital projects. You will work on and/or Project Manage tracer studies, baseline coastal process understanding reports, numerical modelling and beach management plan design and monitoring. Senior Marine Environmental Consultant

Role Introduction As a Boat Technician you will be responsible for the maintenance and transportation of the boats and equipment of the Eton College Boat Club (ECBC) fleet, under the direction of the Senior Boat Technician. You will also be expected to assist with the maintenance, cleaning, and safe administration of ECBC boathouses and support the smooth running of events both at Eton and elsewhere at busier periods throughout the year. Main Duties Boat/Fleet responsibilities: <ul><li>Carry out routine maintenance and refurbishment of ECBC rowing, safety and coaching equipment, after initial "triage" by the Senior Boat Technician. </li><li>Road or river transport of boats or personnel as instructed by the Senior Boat Technician or the Head of Rowing, where such transport relates to boats, coaches or boys of the external racing fleet.</li></ul>General responsibilities: <ul><li>Accompany the ECBC on away fixtures as directed by the Senior Boat Technician or the Head of Rowing. Typically, this would involve:<ul><li>five sculling and small boat Head Races or Great Britain assessment weekends in the Michaelmas term;</li><li>six Head races or Great Britain assessment weekends in the Lent term;</li><li>most weekends during the Summer term, including Friday and Saturday of the National Schools' Regatta and, at the discretion of the Senior Boatman, parts of GB Junior Final Trials and British Rowing Junior Championships.</li></ul></li><li>Rig boats as requested by Senior Boat Technician or coaches of external racing crews.</li><li>Assist at ECBC bumping races and ECBC internal events.</li><li>Assist with transport of ECBC equipment to and from training camps abroad.</li></ul>All employees of Eton College are also expected to: <ul><li>Develop a good understanding of safeguarding procedures, given all positions at Eton are classed as 'regulated activity'.</li><li>Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
