Our Bristol team comprises 15 water environment and flood risk professionals who work collaboratively on projects with our regional team of 30 across the South and South West, and with our national team of approximately 150 across the UK. We have a strong portfolio of major infrastructure projects such the Bristol Heat Network and Cullompton Town Centre Relief Road; and with clients such as National Grid, Network Rail and National Highways. We also continue to support our strong portfolio of Local Authority and Lead Local Flood Authority clients, including delivery of transport infrastructure schemes, flood investigations, flood risk management strategies and planning review support. The Sustainable Water Management business operates as a national team and work is shared around the team in a fair and transparent way, ensuring project allocation takes into account personal interests and development aspirations and much as practicable. A little more about your role... We are looking for a Consultant who has experience in the delivery of flood risk assessment projects to work collaboratively on technically complex projects for a range of clients. Working as part of our national team, the successful candidate will also be able to work seamlessly across other technical areas within the Sustainable Water Management team. This includes but is not limited to flood risk modelling, LLFA technical services and flood management solutions; as well as other water environment technical areas including Water EIA, WFD assessment, permitting applications, geomorphology and BNG. You will contribute to a diverse range of projects but the main focus of your work is likely to be Flood Risk Assessment for major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, with wider involvement in flood modelling, flood management and Water EIA as appropriate to individual experience. Sharing your technical expertise and mentoring more junior members in the team will also be part of your role. Your Purpose: <ul><li>Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels. </li><li>Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals. </li><li>Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes. </li><li>Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions. </li><li>Adhere to quality assurance standards in design. </li></ul>What you can bring: <ul><li>Chartered Civil Engineer. </li><li>Experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design. </li><li>Sound theoretical knowledge in ocean waves, tidal theory, extreme value statistics, nearshore wave processes and sediment transport. </li><li>Design experience of coastal structures such as flood defences, sea walls, breakwaters, revetments and beaches to appropriate codes and standards such as BS6349, EurOtop manual and rock manual. </li><li>The ability to plan and direct others in the use of numerical modelling to simulate wave propagation, tidal flows hydrodynamics etc. </li></ul>Why work for AtkinsRéalis?
