About You: This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System. About the Opportunity: The Engineer executes repairs and regular maintenance of our fleet of Transport Canada inspected passenger vessels and associated equipment. As part of the engineering team, the Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting problems as well as designing and implementing solutions. Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities: <ul><li>Ensures the safe and reliable operation of all vessels, systems, machinery, and equipment under his/her care with due regard for the Safety Management System (SMS), and proper standards of watchkeeping, and in accordance with practice of good seamanship</li><li>Routinely inspects all areas of the vessels, stages, dock, and marine railway for unsafe conditions, and assists in accident investigations and reports</li><li>Participates in emergency drills in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, the Safety Management System. Participates in safety meetings in conformance with City Cruises Toronto policy, to ensure a routinely efficient and safe operation at all times and the proper use of equipment during any possible emergency</li><li>Maintains engineering operations and maintenance logs; paying particular attention to proper recording of incidents and irregularities</li><li>Ensures a clean workplace throughout the day, at the beginning and end of shifts</li><li>Reports non-conformities to the Designated Person (Director, Marine Operations)</li><li>Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the business at all times using all available means</li><li>Supports Food &amp; Beverage and all other departments with projects, maintenance, and operations as required</li><li>Immediately notifies the Master of the vessel if any critical system as laid out in the Safety Management System is not functioning</li><li>Ensures that all Safety Equipment is present and equipment is inspected to the relevant standards</li><li>Knows and understands both the Operational and Emergency procedures laid out in the Safety Management System</li><li>Adheres to all health and safety regulations</li><li>Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job. Details: Job Title: Team Leader - Marine Engineer Location: Halifax, NS Reports To: Engineering Manager Keywords: #Marine.industry.jobs #Marine.designer.jobs #Marine.jobs To lead a team of engineers in the delivery of detail design activities across programmes within the Belcan Marine systems. The role has a strong focus on engineering delivery and quality, providing a focal for technical governance and support to the team Amongst other things the successful candidate will lead the detail design activities of spatial integration modelling, production outputs supervision/ checking and customer change capture and embodiment along with support to production operations in relation to the areas under their supervision, as required. It is expected that the Team Leader will be comfortable working in an Engineering Service environment and will be able to balance the technical responsibilities inherent within the role, with the commercial and project timescale associated with delivery. Principle Responsibilities: * Customer o Interacts with customer technical focal points as required * Delivery o On-Time, On-Budget delivery in accordance with customer quotations * P&amp;L o Maximises billability of team o Avoids overspend and write-offs o Identify &amp; implement cost savings (internal &amp; customer) o Manages change * Resource / Capability o Responsible for technical validity of customer deliverables, by either approving deliverables or utilising suitable qualified and experienced personnel. o Agree and define deliverables for customer quotations o Supervise team members, planning of day to day activities o Identifies training requirements for team members o Provide inputs to and support PDRs * Offshore o Identifies opportunities within their teams activities that align with the functional off-shoring Required Qualifications and Experience: o Must be degree qualified. Must be experienced in both naval ship spatial modelling and in the production and checking of marine output drawings of various disciplines, principally Layouts. o Must be highly proficient in the use of the appropriate tools and techniques that will be used by his/ her team (e.g. Windchill, Foran, etc...). o Have a thorough awareness of naval ship design rules and specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out detail design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained by his or her team. o Must be a highly capable communicator both written and spoken. o Must be an excellent team player with a tenacious and resilient attitude to drive the interface with the customer and the various engineering and support functions of the business. o Must have experience in project co-ordination and /or management in a challenging delivery environment. o Provide technical support and troubleshooting responses in assigned areas to operational units or other activities. o Appreciates and can articulate the value of the engineering lifecycle and the relationship to the Lifecycle Management Process. Support and participate in technical reviews to ensure product viability. o Understand the importance of Health and Safety requirements and can articulate the need to ensure that the product is acceptably safe and that product and system safety assessments form part of the design process. o Must have an understanding of regulatory and statutory requirements of the product. o Has an appreciation of the requirement that the environmental impact of our activities is sustainable in the long term. o Appreciates the need for a supportability engineering process to sustain the long term viability of the business.
