Reporting Lines The Fishery Officer (Aquaculture) reports to the Senior Fishery Officer in the Sustainable Aquaculture area, under the overall supervision of the Deputy Director, NFI. Technical Focus Support the work of the Sustainable Aquaculture area in the organization of the Committee on Fisheries (COFI) Sub-Committee on Aquaculture and in implementing policies and programmes that seek to maximize the impacts of aquaculture on Members' economic, social and environmental objectives, especially with regard to the role of small-scale aquaculture in food security and nutrition, and to help meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets within the FAO Strategic Framework and priority programmes, such as Blue Transformation and the Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture (GSA). Your Opportunity We are currently seeking a talented and ambitious Senior Aquatic Biologist to join our fisheries team in the Calgary, Alberta office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading fisheries related tasks and deliverables. The successful candidate will join our team of freshwater fisheries and aquatic biologists who value teamwork and will help shape our fisheries practice in Alberta. Registration, or ability to register, with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists is required. Minimum of 10 years of experience as a fisheries biologist with consulting experience. Knowledge of current provincial and federal government regulatory requirements and regulatory authorities. (e.g., Canada Energy Regulator, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, etc.).
