Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Flood Risk Consultant in the Regulations and Development sector. As an Associate Consultant, you will technically lead and manage the production of flood risk consenting related documents for our major clients. You will join one of our rapidly growing UKoffices, whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. We are a close-knit team of consultants, engineers, technicians, hydrologists, hydraulic modellers and project managers. We work hard to give our team development opportunities, whether that is a secondment to see the client's perspective, an assignment to spend time on site to manage a construction contract, or arranging training to allow you to grow. Here's what you'll do: <ul><li>Deliver: Lead &amp; verify the production of documents such as flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments, flood risk activity permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters of EIAs.</li><li>Expertise: Lead input into tenders for complex and high-profile projects like nationally significant infrastructure projects.</li><li>Collaborate: Build strong relationships with clients and across technical discipline teams to ensure we successfully deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects.</li><li>Quality: Keep up-to-date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services; and use AECOM's project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to our clients in line with the agreed programme and budget.</li><li>Lead: Mentor staff within the team to support their professional development.</li></ul>Become part of our dynamic Water business, which boasts around 700 experts across the UK &amp; Ireland. Associate Flood Risk Consultant

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team, lead models on a range of projects locally and nationally, and mentor and develop other business consultants. The role requires developing relationships with clients and regulators as well as management of varied and challenging projects. You will be a key contributor within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary consultancy operating across a diverse portfolio of projects. Your responsibilities will extend beyond technical execution to include active involvement in business development, encompassing work-winning strategies, budgetary control of project finances, and the preparation of comprehensive fee proposals. You will also play a pivotal role in the strategic growth and development of this region's Water &amp; Environment Team. While working within a design office environment, you'll also be actively engaged in design and site meetings, conduct site inspections, and provide detailed progress reports. Effective communication and liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities are essential to ensure project success. Your technical expertise will be utilised in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, as well as the completion of thorough Flood Risk Assessments. You will also be tasked with bid preparation and fee proposal creation. Further, you will be expected to undertake research and contribute to the business development of potential new clients, driving the expansion of our services. ABOUT YOU To excel in this role, you will possess a strong Bachelor's degree, ideally complemented by a higher degree, in a water-related discipline and significant consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeller. You will bring substantial expertise in conducting flood risk assessments in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and, where applicable, Technical Advice Note 15 (TAN 15). However, the primary emphasis of this position lies in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, frequently utilising software such as Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of the operational frameworks of the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales, as well as Lead Local Flood Authorities. You will possess up-to-date knowledge of current planning policies and procedures and the ability to leverage these to maximise client service and secure necessary approvals. As a self-motivated team player, you will exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills. You will be capable of working autonomously while effectively coordinating with your line manager's requirements; an understanding of the developer industry would also be considered a valuable asset.
