As we continue to develop Marine &amp; Offshore activities, we are delighted to offer a unique opportunity to join our organisation as Marine Surveyor for Ships in Services operations. Position is located within our Durban office in South Africa and you will be welcomed in a supportive and collaborative learning environment. About the role: The ships in the services department carry out inspection of vessels when coming into service requiring regular surveys and you are carrying out these surveys according to class rules and international legislation (International Maritime Organizations, National Regulations, Standards IACS Requirements). You are responsible for these surveys, recording and reporting of the surveys, and communication with the crew, manager and / or owner. Your role: • Undertake classification / certification and statutory surveys and inspections of ships-in-service according to rules and regulations. • Carry out ISM/ISPS/MLC audits, as assigned by supervisor. • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders and ensure all survey / inspection reports (including survey certificates) are factual, objective and submitted within the stipulated format and timeframe. • Keep up to date with new rules, regulations and technical information or process disseminated through internal communication. • Participate in meetings (both internal and external) as required. • Attend all scheduled trainings (locally and overseas) and ultimately achieving specified delegations as agreed in Performance Management Process. • Ensure timely and accurate submission of time &amp; expense sheets. Your Profile: • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience as seagoing engineer or maritime officer, technical superintendent. • Experience as a Marine Surveyor in a classification society is preferred. • Able to travel at short notice and accept short to mid-term overseas assignments as required. • Have extensive technical skills and are familiar with International Legislation. • English language skills in word and writing is a requirement. • Have good communication skills, and you feel at home in a highly dynamic environment.
