Job Description: <ul><li>SEA 21, NAVSEA's Director of Surface Ship Maintenance, Modernization, and Sustainment is seeking professional support services (PSS) to support the Government's existing organization, personnel, knowledge, and processes.</li><li>SEA 21 integrates sustainment and maintenance strategies, modernization plans, training needs, and technical, logistics, and programmatic efforts to best manage the lifecycle of U.S. and partner Navy surface ships and systems from fleet introduction through transfer or disposal.</li><li>SEA 21 is the dedicated life cycle management organization for the Navy's in-service surface ships and is responsible for managing critical modernization, maintenance, training, and inactivation programs.</li><li>SEA 21 provides wholeness to the fleet by serving as the primary technical interface, ensuring surface ships are modernized with the latest technologies and remain mission relevant throughout each ship's service life. Naval Architect-Mid

Responsible for a wide range of complex naval architecture and engineering duties on a variety of projects that the technical engineering team within Foss Maritime Company supports, which includes engineering needs of operating companies within Saltchuk Marine and the Saltchuk family of companies. This is a full-time position that will continue through the duration of the project contract with an anticipated conclusion on or before December 31, 2027. Essential Functions: <ul><li>Provides engineering and design services under the direction and supervision of the director and project engineers.</li><li>Engineering work is focused primarily in naval architecture, including vessel design, structural design and analysis, stability analysis, vessel modification and refurbishment plans and specifications, regulatory analysis and other naval architecture and engineering services. </li><li>Supports engineering services for international and domestic marine transportation projects, including heavy sealifts.</li><li>Provides design review and support engineering services for new vessels and services in existing and developing markets for Foss Maritime and outside clients. </li><li>Provides naval architecture support of civil engineering and construction clients for design and construction of inland, waterfront and marine infrastructure projects.</li><li>Supports Foss Maritime Company and other operating companies under Saltchuk and Saltchuk Marine, in development of vessel construction, modification, operations and transportation projects.</li><li>Performs special duties and other projects as assigned.</li><li>Adheres to all company policies.</li><li>Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: <ul><li>Engineering background, skill, knowledge and experience with work supervised under the director and senior engineers for design and engineering products.</li><li>Excellent communication skills with internal and external clients, Foss Maritime and sister company operations personnel, and other company staff.</li><li>General knowledge of a wide range of commercial vessels.</li><li>Ability to support development of vessel arrangements and to assess feasibility, concept and detail design level of marine vessels, as well as evaluations of and modifications to specific portions of vessels.</li><li>Ability to support development of plans, specifications, and estimates for marine transportation and operations projects.</li><li>Ability to support development of structural design and engineering calculations for vessel construction, modification and maintenance.</li><li>Ability to support development of trim and stability calculations and reports for marine vessels and floating equipment using GHS or other software.</li><li>Ability to generate vessel design and modification drawings using AutoCAD and other software.</li><li>General understanding of international, U.S. Coast Guard and marine classification society rules and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required.</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications: This position generally requires a Bachelor's degree in naval architecture. Additional relevant marine industry experience is preferred. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate is also highly desirable. Job Description: • The Senior Naval Architect (E4) will support the development of the US Navy Watercraft program in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Detachment Norfolk, Combatant Craft Division (NSWCCDDN), Code 83. • The Senior Naval Architect (E4) will support the early-stage definition and analysis of systems related to watercrafts.
