About the Role The Marine Project Manager Higher Apprentice role is based within our Strategic Infrastructure Team (SI), a new team that has been set up to deliver 17 new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects to help us deliver on our net zero ambitions and help the UK Government meet its target of 50GW of renewable energy by 2030. Our aim is to help the UK switch to clean energy and make sure our electricity network is fit for the future; carrying more clean, secure energy from where it's generated to where you need it. As a Marine Project Manager Higher Apprentice, you would play a crucial role in enabling us to do this. We are looking for a motivated individual to support the installation of subsea power cables. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience in project management within the marine engineering sector, focusing on the planning and execution of subsea operations. About You You will have extensive experience in 2D / 3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling and either have attained or be working towards chartered membership in a relevant professional institution. As an experienced professional, you are expected to work independently and with minimal supervision, with extensive relevant experience that includes the following: <ul> <li>A good understanding of numerical modelling equations and discretisation, 2D mesh generation</li> <li>Experience using numerical modelling software such as MIKE, Delft3D, and Telemac, with proven applications in relevant fields. This experience might include modelling hydrodynamics, multiphase flows, particle tracking, advection dispersion, water quality, and chemical processes.</li> <li>Ideally, you will also have a basic understanding of physicochemical water quality, as well asa good understanding of oceanography and the associated regulatory standards for fresh and/or marine waters.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills and the experience and confidence to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders working closely with clients, as well as other professional staff across multidisciplinary business groups.</li> </ul>We are proud of our culture. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team, lead models on a range of projects locally and nationally, and mentor and develop other business consultants. The role requires developing relationships with clients and regulators as well as management of varied and challenging projects. You will be a key contributor within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary consultancy operating across a diverse portfolio of projects. Your responsibilities will extend beyond technical execution to include active involvement in business development, encompassing work-winning strategies, budgetary control of project finances, and the preparation of comprehensive fee proposals. You will also play a pivotal role in the strategic growth and development of this region's Water &amp; Environment Team. While working within a design office environment, you'll also be actively engaged in design and site meetings, conduct site inspections, and provide detailed progress reports. Effective communication and liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities are essential to ensure project success. Your technical expertise will be utilised in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, as well as the completion of thorough Flood Risk Assessments. You will also be tasked with bid preparation and fee proposal creation. Further, you will be expected to undertake research and contribute to the business development of potential new clients, driving the expansion of our services. ABOUT YOU To excel in this role, you will possess a strong Bachelor's degree, ideally complemented by a higher degree, in a water-related discipline and significant consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeller. You will bring substantial expertise in conducting flood risk assessments in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and, where applicable, Technical Advice Note 15 (TAN 15). However, the primary emphasis of this position lies in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, frequently utilising software such as Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of the operational frameworks of the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales, as well as Lead Local Flood Authorities.
