The Marine Enhancement Grants Officer - Seabirds is a new and important role in the SMEEF team. We are seeking an ambitious, self-starter who can hit the ground running. The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of seabird ecology and the relevant policy landscape and be ready to apply this to our developing programme. They will be an excellent communicator, ready to champion seabird conservation in Scotland. Supporting the SMEEF Grants Manager, the successful candidate will lead in developing the delivery strategy and monitoring success. This exciting role will manage a portfolio of grants within the NatureScot system. SMEEF aims to ensure we deliver a responsive, customer focussed service and support applicants to share learning from their projects so experience of the seabird conservation network, particularly in Scotland, is desirable. Embedded within the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy Delivery Plan and the Scottish Seabird Conservation Action Plan the SMEEF seabird resilience fund aims to undertake practical action which helps build the evidence base for enhancement and test novel approaches to compensation or nature positive measures for seabird conservation. This is a fast moving role. The successful candidate will be flexible in managing the busy workload as part of a small and dispersed team. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Delivering an effective grants process • Develop the SMEEF seabird grant strategy, in partnership with the SMEEF Grants Manager for consideration by the SMEEF Steering Group and Grants Panel. • Work with the SMEEF team, and wider NatureScot teams, to ensure the effective delivery of the SMEEF grant programme including end to end management of grants. • Manage all relevant Grants Panel related processes and reporting including preparing robust, timely and clearly articulated papers relating to seabird work for meetings, leading discussions, and reporting back recommendations to the Steering Group. Monitoring and reporting • Develop and manage an appropriate monitoring and reporting programme for SMEEF's seabirds work taking into account environmental, social, economic, and wellbeing impacts of the programme. • Coordinate the monitoring of grant outputs and outcomes to report on the delivery of targets and achievements. • Lead on the ecological monitoring and analysing project outcomes. • Work closely with the SMEEF team to ensure effective reporting to donors and the public about SMEEF related outcomes. • Prepare information for regular reporting and in response to information requests for example from Scottish Government and FOI process. • Working in an environment of continuous learning and improvement, highlight opportunities for process improvement and change, and where appropriate, assist in the review, implementation and development of associated guidance. Subsea7 has an opportunity for a Naval Architect and Structural Technical Authority to join our Project and Offshore Operations (P&amp;OO) team in our Westhill, Aberdeen office, on a full time, staff basis. P&amp;OO are a global internal service provider of Subsea7's fleet, assisting our project teams to ensure the right people, vessels and equipment are in the right place at the right time with the right processes to do their job in a safe and compliant way. The Naval Architect &amp; Structural Technical Authority (TA) has responsibility for a team of Structural Engineers and Naval Architects, who provide technical instruction and guidance for our fleet of vessels and associated equipment, helping to ensure that our operations are performed safely and to technical industry standard applications for all company equipment / assets. This role reports to the P&amp;OO Fleet and Equipment Technical &amp; Engineering Manager and will liaise regularly with internal stakeholders such as Vessel Superintendents and Project Managers and Engineers to ensure successful delivery of our projects so candidates should have a good level of interpersonal skills and be adept at building relationships. This will be a highly varied role supporting different vessels, projects and levels of stakeholder engagement but some of the main responsibilities will be: <ul> <li>Participate in routine reviews of Maintenance &amp; Repair scopes of work with the respective vessel teams</li> <li>Ensure that budgeted Capital Expenditure applications are submitted to fleet management in a timely manner with proper business justification and that these projects when approved are delivered on time and on budget</li> <li>Responsible for the continuous improvement of Engineering standards documentation within the BMS including technical management instructions and other departmental instructions to maximise their technical and commercial effectiveness</li> <li>Ensure timely and accurate inputs (specifications, budget and schedule) are provided to the Technology &amp; Asset Development team for all equipment spreads being part of a new build vessel programme. Once approved, ensure the delivery of the new built systems and associated equipment is performed to the satisfaction of the company management</li> <li>Produce analysis reports and provide feedback on all aspects to F&amp;E Senior Management as and when required</li> <li>Supports the professional and career development of self and others through continued professional training, mentoring, personnel development reviews and on the job development</li></ul>What experience would we like you to have? <ul> <li>Degree Qualified in Naval Architecture or similar subject. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree qualification</li> <li>Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status</li> <li>Proven demonstrable operational and asset management experience within the marine industry and an in-depth technical working knowledge of Engineering legislation and practices</li> <li>Previous experience of drawing interpretation/validation and responsibility for key documentation approval and management</li> <li>A proven effective leader with a positive approach who can engage a team through coaching and mentoring to continuously develop.</li> <li>Good knowledge of ship Classification Society rules and international marine legislation (SPS, SOLAS, MARPOL etc).
