The Role Ventia are looking to engage a Marine Carpenter to join our Department of Transport contract. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role will see preform a rage of tasks associated with preventive maintenance and repairs on Department of Transport infrastructure such as Jetty's, wharfs, boat ramps and maritime buildings along the coast. You will also be applying your trade skills to install, replace and repair the integrity of facilities. This is a great opportunity if you like working out in the fresh air and enjoy the afternoon sea breeze. Whilst primarily working within the metro area, this role also has a requirement to travel to remote and rural areas of WA (all coastal) to preform work as required. We are looking for someone who is hard working, safety focused and ready for their next challenge. This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 07:00am-03:30pm with 1x RDO per month. The payrate for this position is $48.20 per hour plus overtime opportunities. Your Role As Technical Superintendent Vessel Construction, you will collaborate on the preliminary design, design, specifications for and follow-up of construction or conversion of a vessel or other large offshore or dredging equipment. Your main duties and responsibilities: <ul><li>Studying and collaborating on the specifications, construction plans and all relevant documents regarding the construction;</li><li>Help follow up, adjust and approve the design work and technical purchases, both from the shipyard and internally;</li><li>Help support the design, construction and/or purchase of specific dredging and offshore equipment supplied to the shipyard, or manufactured by JDN;</li><li>Help follow up the construction and construction supervision and ensure coordination with the shipyard of work and deliveries by JDN;</li><li>Helping to monitor the testing programme and commissioning of the newly built ship;</li><li>Helping to equip a ship with the necessary tools and spare parts;</li><li>For some (sub)projects, these activities are carried out independently and under your own responsibility.</li></ul>You will work from the office in Aalst. Engineer Shipbuilding

Responsibilities: • Manage and oversee day-to-day construction management of project • Monitor and report to Senior / Project Manager of project progress versus baseline, including issues and risks in a timely manner • Conduct VSCC and take charge of ship work safety and cleanliness • Liaise with trades on the activities and construction effort needed to achieve progress safely, within schedule and budget • Plan, develop and organize the construction effort to formulate the most cost-effective plan to support schedule and cost • Ensure all changes to specifications, work scope and drawings are documented • Review man hours and duration forecasts to completion and resource requirements • Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance • Manage schedule, cost-to-completion (CTC) and POC together with Senior / Project Manager • Conduct progress meetings to manage issues • Responsible for planning, scheduling and costing • Support in project tender when called upon or any other adhoc project duties as required • Handle warranty issues • Manage customer expectations at site and maintain good customer relationships Requirements: <ul><li>Diploma/Degree in Marine/Mechanical/Naval Architecture</li><li>Preferably possess 1 year of experience in newbuild or ship repairs related projects, candidates wtith 3 years or more of experience will be considered at Senior Engineer level</li><li>Completed Ship Repair Manager Course is advantageous, but not compulsory</li><li>Project Management Skills in the following areas: Planning scheduling and costing, Risk management, Manpower management, Customer Relationship management.</li><li>Able to deal and communicate with people effectively at all levels on the ground, identify and manage issues, cost consciousness and urgency to get things done</li><li>Familiarity with project management software such as Primavera or MS Projects will be advantageous</li><li>Able to go onboard vessels</li><li>Able to work on weekends based on project needs</li><li>Only Singapore Citizens will be considered for this role</li></ul>Other Information: <ul><li>Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)</li><li>5 days work week</li><li>Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm</li></ul>

The role Within the operations team you will be part of an engineering team and steering a small number of subcontractors which prepares the Basic and Detail Engineering package. You will be able to work in different fields of your expertise and over time develop even beyond. The Engineering department is responsible for the development of the Basic Engineering package including Class and Client approvals, management of Detail Engineering partners and production support. We want to build a long term stable team of engineering experience.
