The Marine Survey Office (MSO) is a division within the Department of Transport and is the regulatory authority for maritime transport safety. Naval Architect (Ship Surveyor)

III/2) to work as Engineer &amp; Ship Surveyors in the MSO.Reporting to the Chief Surveyor, Deputy Chief Surveyors and/or Surveyors-in-Charge, Engineer &amp; Ship Surveyors form part of a team whose main responsibilities include enhancing safety of life at sea, maritime security, living and working conditions of those at sea and preventing pollution of the marine environment.Engineer &amp; Ship Surveyors are engaged in the initial survey and inspection requirements of vessels and the renewal survey requirements for existing vessels such as the issue or renewal of statutory certificates and registration on the Irish Flag. Engineer & Ship Surveyor

Responsibilities: • Manage and oversee day-to-day construction management of project • Monitor and report to Senior / Project Manager of project progress versus baseline, including issues and risks in a timely manner • Conduct VSCC and take charge of ship work safety and cleanliness • Liaise with trades on the activities and construction effort needed to achieve progress safely, within schedule and budget • Plan, develop and organize the construction effort to formulate the most cost-effective plan to support schedule and cost • Ensure all changes to specifications, work scope and drawings are documented • Review man hours and duration forecasts to completion and resource requirements • Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance • Manage schedule, cost-to-completion (CTC) and POC together with Senior / Project Manager • Conduct progress meetings to manage issues • Responsible for planning, scheduling and costing • Support in project tender when called upon or any other adhoc project duties as required • Handle warranty issues • Manage customer expectations at site and maintain good customer relationships Requirements: <ul><li>Diploma/Degree in Marine/Mechanical/Naval Architecture</li><li>Preferably possess 1 year of experience in newbuild or ship repairs related projects, candidates wtith 3 years or more of experience will be considered at Senior Engineer level</li><li>Completed Ship Repair Manager Course</li><li>Project Management Skills in the following areas: Planning scheduling and costing, Risk management, Manpower management, Customer Relationship management.</li><li>Able to deal and communicate with people effectively at all levels on the ground, identify and manage issues, cost consciousness and urgency to get things done</li><li>Familiarity with project management software such as Primavera or MS Projects will be advantageou</li><li>Able to go onboard vessels</li><li>Able to work on weekends based on project needs</li><li>Only Singapore Citizens will be considered for this role</li></ul>Other Information: <ul><li>Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)</li><li>5 days work week</li><li>Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm</li></ul>
