Job Summary Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Marine Electrician. This position begins Novemebr 15, 2024. Reporting to Chief Engineer/First Assistant, assists with the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems on the R/V Neil Armstrong and R/V Atlantis; and assists scientific personnel in using shipboard power. Job Description Able to work with minimum supervision. Maintains and repairs electrical power generating and distribution systems; voltage regulators, engine governors, and equipment; machinery monitoring and remote control systems; power, control, and display systems of deck and science-related equipment, and DC propulsion generators, motors, and control circuits. Assists with repairs in port. Performs routine checks of electrical equipment including daily check of lighting, indicators, motor controllers, and wiring, monthly checks of test batteries of auxiliary and emergency generators, general alarm, and bridge lighting; mast and sound-powered telephone inspection and maintenance. Quarterly check of insulation test readings; maintains all moving parts of windlass, winches, and related deck machinery; and inspects secure connections. Yearly check of main and emergency boards, and masthead lights. HDR's Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) division is currently in need of a Marine Biologist to be based on Oahu, HI. This position will assist with projects primarily in the Pacific Region and secondarily along the US west coast. Will consider candidates who are looking for part-time or full-time employment. Primary Responsibilities <ul><li>Support Senior Project Manager with multiple projects from conception, planning, budgeting, field implementation to completion. </li><li>Assist with project management and team support roles with our current clients and expand our client-base in the Pacific Region</li><li>Assist with conducting a wide range of field studies including data processing, analysis and reporting</li><li>Perform other duties as needed.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications <ul><li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Biology or a related field.</li><li>Active PADI Open Water diver certification.</li><li>Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting scientific projects focused on the marine environment including fauna and flora characterization, and impact assessment.</li><li>Detail oriented to perform work accurately in a team-oriented environment and have the demonstrated ability to direct the work of others including subcontractors.</li><li>Demonstrated history of reliability, strong work ethic, and solid time management skills</li><li>Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills such as writing procedures, guides, and/or studies.</li><li>Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research skills</li><li>Ability to travel up to 25%. About the Opportunity: This position is responsible for performing complex mechanical repair, maintenance, specification and installation of equipment in a shipboard and support facility environment. Hands-on position that will also handle records management.
