[What the role is] You will be part of a team of marine professionals under MPA's Shipping Division overseeing the review of new ship designs and plans for ships using alternative fuel / zero carbon emission technology, to meet national and/or international requirements and ship's operating profiles. Other duties include the development of international shipping conventions and regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) including the SOLAS and MARPOL Convention, development and updating of the national shipping regulations to give effect to international Conventions that Singapore is signatory to, and implementation of technical polices on ships. [What the role is] You will be part of a team of marine professionals under MPA's Shipping Division, involved in developing international and domestic shipping regulations, standards and policies, to ensure the safety and security as well as environmental sustainability of the Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) and domestic harbour craft fleet. The role will entail oversight of strategic decarbonisation and digitalisation projects in partnership with the shipping community, monitoring of global maritime trends and regulatory landscape; reviewing and implementing international shipping conventions and regulations; participating at international and regional maritime forums; and close engagement with stakeholders across government and industry. [What the role is] You will be part of a team of marine professionals whose duties may include conducting inspections on ships to verify conformance with international and national regulations, investigating marine incidents, conducting training on maritime safety and pollution prevention, monitoring developments in international conventions of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and updating the national shipping regulations. [What you will be working on] Other duties may include overseeing navigational safety and security in port, regulating marine traffic, enforcing port regulations, coordinating search and rescue operations, auditing port security measures and implementing maritime security measures. [What we are looking for] You should possess a Certificate of Competency (Deck) Class 1 or COC 1 (Motorship) and working experience onboard ocean-going vessels either in the deck or engine department for at least 3 years.
