Essential Duties and Responsibilities <ul><li>Plan and supervise surveying operations;</li><li>Select, utilize, and calibrate appropriate surveying equipment for marine construction, hydrographic surveys, nautical charts, and maps;</li><li>Select and manage survey boat, software and hardware for the project site;</li><li>Provide accurate reports, manage data and answer technical queries for marine construction activities such as dredging, coastal work, pipelines and environmental monitoring, and other structural construction activities;</li><li>Collect information about the type of seabed along with the movement of water and waves and the delineation of high water and low water line;</li><li>Generate contour maps and other graphical models;</li><li>Validate data, convert data into charts, profiles, and other graphical methods using AutoCAD and other modeling software.</li><li>Assure the project documentation is correct, complete, neat, and consistent with the company's policies and procedures;</li><li>Interact with project personnel, including contractors, project managers, engineers and clients and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings;</li><li>Prepare and oversee subordinates' final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices;</li><li>Interpret and apply technical specifications, construction drawings, and work plans and determine appropriate action to implement plan requirements;</li><li>Identify, prepare, and distribute field change requests and request change orders for review and approval by Project Manager or Engineer;</li><li>Identify project staffing requirements and prepare and maintain on-site personnel schedules to meet project deadlines;</li><li>Address and resolve on-site work problems, as well as client, contractor/subcontractor and employee problems quickly and effectively;</li><li>Ensure compliance with project specifications and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific health and safety plans (HASP) and the company's Environmental Health &amp; Safety Management policies and procedures;</li><li>Oversee the site-specific health and safety plan activities of the subcontractors or other surveyors; Direct tailgate health and safety meetings in accordance with established policies and procedures;</li><li>Manage and abide by the project budget and provide notification of anticipated costs and potential overruns to Project Managers and/or Engineers; and</li><li>Perform related work as required.</li></ul>Education and Licensure <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in surveying, construction management,civil engineering, geology, marine sciences, or related subjects (required)</li><li>Advanced degree in surveying, construction management,civil engineering, geology, marine sciences, or related subjects (preferred)</li></ul>Skills, Experience and Qualifications <ul><li>At least 5 years of applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position. (required)</li><li>Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)</li><li>Experience using marine, structural, and geotechnical survey equipment such as a total station, prism pole, echo sounders, multibeam, etc. (preferred)</li><li>Experience with design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Qinsy, Terramodel, Hypack, Wintopo. Job Description The main purpose of the job is to act promptly, professionally and effectively, attending to draft container/cargo/ bunker surveys as well as surveys for collisions/pollution/marine Incidents and sealing/unsealing of hatch covers. The surveyor will also witness cargo samples during analysis in labs, respond to all business correspondence, maintain accurate and regular timesheets, coordinate with third party contractors, meet financial targets, provide advice to Principals/P&amp;I Club Members, and meet with local ship owners and agent to enhance business relationships. The job contributes towards department goals and targets by proactively handling claims and generating as much income as possible.
