Salary Range - $21 - $30/hour depending on experience NYC Ferry operated by Hornblower is seeking a Marine Diesel Technician for our operation in Brooklyn, NY. About You: This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT Service System. About the Opportunity: The Diesel Technician is responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of the diesel main engines and generators onboard fleet vessels. Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities: <ul><li>Accept tasks from the Engineering Supervisor and plans/implements execution.</li><li>Successfully and safely perform all diesel engine maintenance onboard vessels up to, and including, engine overhauls, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance work.</li><li>Ensure all aspects of safety during task execution.</li><li>Issue company power tools to technicians to accomplish designated tasks. Ensure tools are returned before the end of the shift.</li><li>Ensure company warranty procedures are followed.</li><li>Ensure all shift paperwork is correctly completed and submitted.</li><li>Important vessel information is communicated to other supervisors and the chain of command.</li><li>Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism.</li><li>Use of approved Hazmat required for Paints, Solvents &amp; Cleaning Agents.</li><li>Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance and construction tasks as assigned and minor engineering repairs and rounds as directed.</li><li>Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity.</li><li>Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.</li><li>Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring the vessel is always in an inspection-ready condition.</li><li>Assist with filling water, bunkering fuel, connecting and disconnecting shore power as directed.</li><li>Additional job duties as assigned.</li></ul>Requirements &amp; Qualifications: <ul><li>HS Diploma</li><li>Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card), and/or ability to obtain and maintain.</li><li>Valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and/or ability to obtain and maintain.</li><li>Valid Driver's License.</li><li>Copy of DD214, if Veteran status.</li><li>Excellent customer service skills.</li><li>Ability to effectively interact with the passengers, guests, and fellow employees.</li><li>Ability to work in fast-paced, quickly changing environment.</li><li>Mechanical and electrical experience are required.</li><li>Marine mechanical experience is highly desired.</li><li>Proven track record running a maintenance shift is highly desired.</li><li>Proven track record of working successfully in a team environment.</li><li>Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident/incident testing.</li></ul>About Us: Hornblower's passion is to provide amazing experiences on land and water.
