Job Description Job Title: Welding Engineer - Submarines Working Pattern: Day shift with the potential need to work a 2 shift working pattern where required by the business (shift premium paid) Working Location: Derby - Office based We have an exciting opportunity for a Welding Engineer, to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge project supporting the Royal Navy and its state-of-the-art nuclear powered submarine fleet. The Welding Engineer will be primarily responsible for pursuing the development and implementation of various welding techniques, spanning across manual, automated and mechanised processes to meet all product and business requirements across the manufacture of Primary Circuit and Core components. What you will be doing: With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following: <ul><li>Influence the design and manufacture of key components that sit within the heart of the Submarines Pressurised Water Reactor system</li><li>Drive continuous improvement projects from initial concepts to final completion and implementation</li><li>Play a key role in ensuring an uninterrupted manufacturing plant. Liaising with the wider Manufacturing and Engineering teams to provide expertise and knowledge is vital within this role.</li><li>Support a mixture of emergent shop floor issues, from product non-conformance, root cause investigations and cell performance, to supporting welders and managing Welder Qualifications in line with industry and internal standards</li><li>Support manufacturing meetings and reviews with the goal of ensuring SQCDP metrics are on target and in line with business requirements.</li></ul>Who we're looking for: At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: <ul><li>Professional welding qualifications are highly beneficial (e.g. International Institute of Welding (IIW) / European Welding Federation (EWF) Welding Engineer or Technologist status, IEng or CEng status, MSc Welding Engineering)</li></ul><ul><li>Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in an engineering discipline.</li></ul><ul><li>Competent in identifying, developing, qualifying and justifying welding techniques in accordance with the relevant design code, ideally within a relevant industry.</li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge and demonstrated experience of working to the requirements of boiler and pressure vessel design and manufacturing standards.</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrates that product and process safety is of paramount importance assuring products meet all regulatory, code, design and manufacturing and Quality Assurance requirements and complying with all applicable legislation and codes of professional conduct.</li></ul><ul><li>Proven ability to define, plan, monitor and control projects, programmes and work packages, ensuring the work is delivered to cost, quality and schedule. As well as communicating complex technical information in a simple and effective way, whilst creating methods of manufacture ensuring delivery of manufacturing capability and business requirements and meeting design intent.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to integrate well within a large organisation that operates in a high-pressure environment.
