About the Role:

Join our Proserpine Prawn Farm as a Aquaculture Technician - Feed. You will play a pivotal role in supporting Tassal's Prawn Farm strategy by optimising automatic feeding operations. Your leadership will be key to driving feed utilisation for improved growth, enhancing farm performance, and fostering a safe and highly engaged team culture on site.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day monitoring and performance of AQ1 automatic feeding hardware in the field.
  • Lead, train, and provide direction to the AQ1 Feeding Technician team to ensure optimal auto-feeder performance with minimal downtime.
  • Conduct hands-on investigations, fault-finding, and maintenance of automatic feeders, including entering ponds (water) as required.
  • Collaborate with other teams and Senior Technicians to gather data and implement plans for optimal feed delivery.
  • Drive a cohesive safety culture and team engagement across two shifts, operating on a specified roster.
  • Manage accurate data, reporting, and timely communication with your team and internal stakeholders.
  • Support broader business objectives, innovative practices, and initiatives from Tassal's technical team.
Role Requirements:

We are looking for a hands-on leader with strong mechanical aptitude, adaptability, and a resourceful mindset. To be considered, you will have:
  • Proven experience in leading or supervising teams.
  • Comfort working in water for extended periods in all weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills for problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A reliable work ethic and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to safety and fostering an engaged team culture.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to ensure the job is completed effectively.
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster (2/2/3 in-season & 4/2 off-season).
  • A current driver's licence is essential.
Skills to Enhance Success:
  • Passion for or exposure to aquatic animal health.
  • High-Risk Work Licence, Backhoe, or MR/HR truck licence.
  • Experience in aquaculture or similar technical field environments.
