Qualifications:
- Chief Engineer on a passenger ferry is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and repair of a ship's engineering systems.
- This includes ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, complying with maritime regulations, and managing the engineering department and crew.
- This role ensures the ferry operates efficiently and safely, delivering passengers to their destination comfortably.
Overseeing Engine Room Operations:
- Monitoring engine performance, fuel consumption, and equipment functionality.
- Ensuring optimal engine efficiency and minimizing downtime.
- Implementing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Conducting regular inspections, repairs, and overhauls.
- Managing spare parts inventory and procurement.
- In-charge of the planned maintenance system onboard. Coordinate and follow up on all planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs with Second Engineer for engine machinery and with Deck Officer for Deck Machineries.
- Ensuring compliance with equipment manufacturer guidelines.
- Repair and service by shore workshop for all equipment, except navigation and communication
- In charge of the regular testing of safety craft engines, Fire alarms, Emergency fire pump,
- Emergency generator, Engine Alarm Systems and trips, Emergency steering, Fire Dampers and Flaps (coordinate with Deck Officer), Emergency Stops, Quick Closing Valves and all other emergency provisions.
- Developing and implementing procedures for handling emergencies such as engine failures, fires, or flooding.
- Ensuring availability of emergency equipment and supplies.such as engine room fire, Flooding and Blackouts. He should familiarize himself with the emergency release of the Fixed system.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical documentation for all equipment and systems.
- Preparing reports on equipment performance and maintenance history.
- Ensuring that the ship's Drawings and Plans and Instruction Manuals for machinery are correct, up to date and correctly filed.
- Machinery spare parts requisitioning and the filing of the associated paperwork.
- Preparing dry-docking lists for all engine and machinery-related items.
- Ensuring that the Engine Log Book and Oil Record Book for Machinery Spaces are correctly maintained by all engineers.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:
- Certificate of Competence Chief engineer
- International Medical Certificate
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- High Voltage Operation and Maintenance of ship (1000 Volt and more) Management Level
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats
- Proficiency of Security Awareness Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
- Safety Training for Personnel Providing Direct Services to Passenger in Passenger Spaces
- Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity Training
- Crowd Management Training
- Crisis Management and Human Behavior Training
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
- Personal Survival techniques search and rescue.
- Prevention Marine Pollution
- 2 Years' Experience.
- Experience in Engine Types Caterpillar, MAN, Volvo and MTU.
- Experience in propulsion systems of propeller and Jets
- Technical skills: Ability to troubleshoot and repair marine equipment.
- Safety Regulations: In-depth Knowledge of maritime safety laws and standards.
- Leadership: Ability to manage and lead a team, especially during emergencies.
- Management: Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Problem Solving: Quick thinking and decision-making under pressure.
- Communication: Effective communication with crew, passengers, and port authorities.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of vessel systems, maintenance, and safety equipment.
