Voyage Contract
We are recruiting an experienced FPSO Naval Architect / Hull Structural Engineer to join a large-scale VLCC to FPSO conversion project. This is a long-term residential assignment in China, offering hands-on involvement across Detailed Engineering and Yard Construction phases, with strong exposure to Class, Contractors, and Project Management.

As a key member of the FPSO Engineering team, you will act as the technical authority for Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, and Mooring, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project execution from design through construction.

You will work closely with the EPSCC contractor, subcontractors, Classification Societies, and internal engineering teams, playing a central role in technical decision-making.

Engineering - Detailed Engineering Phase:

You will supervise, review, and approve all Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, and Hydrodynamic activities performed by the EPSCC Contractor and its subcontractors:
  • Supervise and review hydrodynamic design activities for all design conditions and ensure compatibility of hydrodynamic loads with interfacing disciplines (e.g. SURF motions and load responses)
  • Monitor FPSO weight control, including lightship weight distribution, COG and radius of gyration estimates
  • Supervise and review / approve Intact and Damage Stability analyses, including offloading and tank inspection conditions
  • Supervise and review transport plans for the FPSO and for modules/equipment to the integration yard
  • Review and consolidate engineering documentation related to Naval Architecture deliverables, liaising with discipline specialists and stakeholders
  • Supervise and follow up Classification Society approvals
  • Provide technical expertise for hull repair and life extension activities and ensure compliance with design and class requirements
Field Engineering - Construction Phase:

On-site, you will oversee naval, structural, and mooring activities during yard execution:
  • Follow up Hull Weight Control during construction
  • Respond to Field Design Changes, Advance Revision Notices, and Site Technical Queries
  • Oversee Naval field engineering activities, including:
    • Draft readings, lightship survey, and inclining experiment
    • Trim & Stability calculations during construction
    • Management of naval/hydrodynamic events
  • Oversee Hull Structural field engineering activities related to VLCC conversion
  • Oversee Mooring field engineering activities, including:
    • Unijoint installation and testing
    • FPSO mooring equipment installation
    • Finalization of towing and hook-up procedures
Requirements

Technical Expertise:
  • Strong expertise in Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, and Mooring within FPSO / Offshore Oil & Gas projects
  • Proven experience in yard / construction phase execution
  • Demonstrated experience in VLCC to FPSO conversion
  • Solid understanding of Classification Society requirements
Personal Skills:
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented engineer
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills in multicultural environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Languages :
  • Fluent English is mandatory
