Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for an (FTC) Electrical Safety Engineer - Submarines, working on a hybrid basis in the Bristol area.

This role sits within the Power team and focuses on ensuring the safe operation and governance of submarine electrical systems. The position is critical-without it, the team would not be able to carry out its statutory and safety responsibilities.

As the (FTC)Electrical Safety Engineer - Submarines, you will be the focal point for all safety-related matters within the electrical domain. You'll manage the safety aspects of electrical systems across in-service submarines, lead on safety assessments for design changes, and represent the electrical authority at key safety and hazard forums.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the safety and assurance of the Royal Navy's most advanced assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the safety lead for the electrical DA, managing all safety-related activities within the team.
  • Attend and represent the team at safety forums, ensuring actions are tracked and completed.
  • Support and lead HAZID sessions, contributing safety expertise to design changes.
  • Produce, review, and communicate safety assessments and data to support decision-making.
  • Ensure that all safety processes and actions are effectively managed, documented, and delivered on time.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience in managing safety within an engineering environment.
  • Prior experience working with UK submarines, with a solid understanding of their operating environment and requirements.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems specific to UK submarines.
