El/la Gerente de Proyectos Marino-Costero (CMPM, por sus siglas en inglés) desarrolla, gestiona y promueve programas de conservación, planes y métodos para áreas geográficas marino-costeras pequeñas y medianas en Ecuador. Proporciona liderazgo técnico y apoyo a la unidad de negocios de Ecuador, y dirige programas de manejo y conservación en la región marino-costera, relacionados con manglares, pesca industrial y artesanal, y acuicultura.
Aborda amenazas críticas a los ecosistemas y especies, fomenta el aprendizaje entre comunidades de conservación, y proporciona información relevante a equipos de planificación. Desarrolla e implementa estrategias de conservación, emplea herramientas legales para la protección de tierras, y promueve apoyo público y privado para las prioridades de TNC.
Coordina el apoyo comunitario, asegura el mantenimiento de áreas protegidas, gestiona múltiples proyectos, establece plazos y supervisa su cumplimiento. Puede trabajar en condiciones climáticas variables, ubicaciones remotas, terrenos difíciles y circunstancias físicamente exigentes.

El/la candidato/a ideal tendrá experiencia en coordinación de proyectos, relacionamiento con actores clave, construcción de alianzas estratégicas e implementación de prácticas sostenibles en zonas marino-costeras. Deberá tener experiencia trabajando con comunidades y actores institucionales, especialmente en ecosistemas de manglares, pesca industrial y artesanal, y acuicultura (en particular, prácticas sostenibles de producción de camarón de bajo carbono).
Trabajará en condiciones diversas, incluyendo ubicaciones remotas y terrenos desafiantes, para apoyar la conservación y prácticas sostenibles en la costa ecuatoriana.

The Coastal Marine Project Manager (CMPM) develops, manages and advances conservation programs, plans and methods for small to medium scale coastal marine geographic areas in Ecuador. The CMPM provides technical leadership and support to the Ecuador business unit and plans and directs preserve management programs and stewardship in the coastal marine region related to mangrove conservation, large scale and artisanal fisheries and aquaculture. The CMPM addresses critical threats to natural systems and individual species, fosters cross-site learning among conservation community, and supplies conservation planning teams with site or landscape level information relevant to the planning process. The CMPM develops and implements conservation strategies and employs a full range of protection tools to acquire varying degrees of legal interest in land and implements a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC conservation priorities. The CMPM coordinates community support, ensures the maintenance of preserve areas and coordinates multiple projects, sets deadlines and manages completion. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances

We are seeking a committed, resilient and motivated professional passionate about coastal marine conservation with a strong background in environmental science, coastal ecosystem conservation, fisheries, aquaculture or related fields. The ideal candidate will have experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, build strategic relationships and the implementation of conservation and sustainable practices projects in the marine coastal area. She/he should have experience working with communities and institutional stakeholders in marine coastal ecosystems, with an emphasis on mangroves, industrial and artisanal fisheries, and aquaculture (particularly in sustainable low-carbon shrimp production practices). You will work in diverse conditions, including remote locations and challenging terrains, to support the conservation and sustainable practices in the Ecuadorian marine coastal area.

- Actuar como Gerente de Proyecto para los proyectos asignados de la Estrategia Marino-Costera.
- Apoyar la coordinación técnica y financiera de la Estrategia Marino-Costera de Ecuador.
- Contribuir al desarrollo de propuestas para el programa de conservación en Ecuador, con énfasis en la zona marino-costera.
- Apoyar el desarrollo de estrategias de conservación y restauración vinculadas a la pesca y acuicultura sostenible.
- Promover alianzas y coordinar con equipos nacionales, regionales (LAR) y globales de TNC.
- Promover alianzas con actores locales y organizaciones comunitarias.
- Establecer metodologías para monitorear el cumplimiento de las metas TNC 2030.
- Tomar decisiones independientes basadas en análisis, experiencia y contexto.
- Asegurar el cumplimiento de políticas internas y requisitos externos.
- Implementar acciones en campo en coordinación con autoridades y comunidades.
- Supervisar contratistas o personal.
- Planificar y facilitar reuniones y talleres.
- Representar a TNC en eventos relacionados con temas marino-costeros.
- Título universitario en manejo de recursos naturales, biología marina, ciencias ambientales, ingeniería pesquera, acuicultura o áreas afines.
- Al menos 5 años de experiencia en conservación marino-costera, pesca industrial/artesanal, acuicultura u otras áreas relacionadas.
- Excelentes habilidades de comunicación verbal y escrita en español e inglés.
- Experiencia en relaciones con comunidades, gobiernos locales, ONGs, agencias gubernamentales y universidades.
- Capacidad para investigar, analizar críticamente y evaluar información de diversas fuentes.
- Experiencia en capacitación y trabajo con comunidades locales.
- Experiencia en gestión de proyectos complejos o múltiples.
- Manejo de herramientas como Microsoft Word, Excel y navegadores web.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
- Acts as Project Manager for the Coastal Marine Strategy's assigned projects, which involves implement specific projects, monitor budgets and operative activities on the ground.
- Supports the Coordination of Ecuador's Marine Coastal Strategy in the technical and financial planning of the Strategy, providing advice, generating and sharing technical and financial information related to the projects under her/his responsibility to accomplish TNC 2030 goals.
- Contributes to the development of proposals for Ecuador's conservation program, with an emphasis on the marine-coastal area.
- Supports the development of conservation and restoration strategies for coastal-marine ecosystems linked to sustainable large and artisanal scale fisheries and aquaculture.
- Promotes alliances and coordinate with national, regional (LAR) and global TNC teams such as Tackle Climate Change, Large Scale Fisheries, Global Aquaculture Program, Humboldt Current, among others.
- Promotes alliances and coordinate with local stakeholders and community organizations in order to advance project objectives and leverage efforts.
- Establishes and implement methodologies and procedures to track the accomplishment of TNC 2030 goals, related to the coastal marine projects in execution.
- Performs tasks with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.
- Ensures program compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
- Implements field actions in coordination with public officials and community groups in the coastal-marine ecosystems; supervise contractors or staff.
- Plan and facilitate the organization of meetings and workshops necessary for the implementation of their duties.
- Participate in and represent TNC at events (presentation and positioning meetings, seminars, workshops, symposiums) related to marine-coastal issues.
- BA/BS degree in natural resource management, marine biology, environmental sciences, fisheries engineering, aquaculture or related fields.
- At least 5 years' experience in coastal marine conservation and management, large scale and artisanal fisheries, aquaculture or other related areas.
- Experience in relations with key stakeholders (communities, local governments, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, universities).
- Experience researching, critically analyzing, and evaluating information from diverse sources and compiling it into cohesive reports and recommendations for strategy and action.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Experiences in training and work with local communities
- Experience managing complex or multiple projects.
- Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
