Global Engineering is specifically providing project support for all business units within the Offshore Energy division of Boskalis.

Job Description

Make your mark as Marine Engineer. You will assist multidisciplinary project engineering teams, which are responsible for the complete engineering of complex projects from the concept design all the way to the supervision and assistance of the actual execution phase. You and your colleagues will commence project specific: Vessel Motion Analysis, Station Keeping Analysis (Anchor Moorings and/or DP), Cable/Pipeline installation Analyses, Offshore Lifting Analyses, sea fastening calculations, stability calculations and many more. In addition to actual calculation assignments, you will be assisting on engineering various maritime and offshore related procedures as Towing manuals, Lifting procedures and Installation TaskPlans.

Besides project specific engineering you'll also be involved in assisting the tender department with technical queries on future projects. Your knowledge on ocean environment, behavior of floating structures, machinery and (lifting) equipment is of vital importance for the understanding of offshore operations. Therefore, your expertise could be of great importance for the success of a project.

Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as a marine engineer if you have:
  • A bachelor's degree on hbo or university in Mechanical/Civil/Marine/Offshore Engineering and/or Naval Architecture;
  • 2 to 6 years of relevant working experience;
  • A good command of written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge and experience with programming languages (Python, Matlab);
  • Knowledge and experience with Hydrodynamic software package Orcaflex;
  • The willingness to stay on board during start-up & execution of offshore projects (minimum 4 weeks each year).
The following competencies are also important for the role of function:
  • Creativity and problem solving skills to translate complex real life operational challenges into multibody dynamic simulation models;
  • Effectively transferring thoughts and expressing ideas to stakeholders like project engineers, offshore crew and operations management;
  • Confidently present and advocate for technical ideas, persuading others through a strong understanding of the subject matter and securing their commitment.

  • Your team: You will be part of the Marine Engineering team of Boskalis Offshore Energy which exists of approximately 17 professionals.
  • Where you will work: You will be based in the head office in Papendrecht. For office-based roles, in consultation with your manager and your team, you work partly at home and partly in the office.
  • Full/part-time job: The position of marine engineer is a job of 32-40 hours a week.
