About the role

Cruise Whitsundays is on the lookout for a dedicated Vessel Engineer to join the team on a casual basis. As the Vessel Engineer you will ensure the safe mechanical operations of our vessels, enhancing the guest experience in one of Australia's most stunning locations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining our commitment to safety and excellence.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to
  • Perform daily engine and machinery checks on assigned vessels.
  • Collaborate with the Master to manage the safe operations of the vessel in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Diagnose system problems as they occur.
  • Ensure all maintenance requirements and actions are recorded accurately.
  • Coordinate and uphold effective preventative maintenance programmes.
About you

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Vessel Engineer with a strong background in marine engines and systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in risk assessments and safety measures, alongside excellent guest service skills to meet guest expectations. Strong time management abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in maintenance management software are essential for this role.

To be successful in this role you will have
  • Extensive knowledge of marine engines and systems, including installations.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures.
  • Exceptional guest service skills, ensuring guests' expectations are met.
  • Strong time management, organisational skills, and effective written/verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and intermediate computer literacy.

  • AMSA accredited or certificate of recognition of Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC (MED1)
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID015 Advance Oxygen Therapy
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (QLD)
  • National Police Clearance
