  • This is an office-based position in Balamban, Cebu, the shipping capital of the Philippines.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Naval Architect is responsible for the naval architecture & structural calculations and design for the assigned ferry/ship design project.

The Naval Architect should be able to perform the design and calculations with minimal supervision to meet flag, classification societies, technical specification requirement and be fit for purpose. This above is to meet the project schedule and allocate design budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accountable for the development of detailed drawings, naval architecture analyses, structural calculations, and comprehensive design documentation to support the delivery of high-quality structural deliverables for assigned ferry and ship design projects.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to the Structural Design Team, ensuring alignment with project requirements, industry standards, and best practices. Collaborate with fabrication teams and supply chain stakeholders to address technical challenges and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee and mentor structural designers and draftspersons, fostering a high-performing team and maintaining quality and consistency in all structural design outputs.
Requirements

Essential:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in ship design or shipbuilding.
  • Strong technical proficiency with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Maxsurf, and finite element analysis software (preferably STRAND).
Desirable:
  • Licensed Philippine Naval Architect and Marine Engineer.
  • Experience in aluminum shipbuilding.
  • Familiarity with 3D ship design software, such as SHIPCON.
  • Supervisory experience in managing and leading teams.
  • Proficiency in other 3D modeling software.
