In response to rising demand, we are actively seeking full-time Maritime Senior Structural Engineers to join our growing team. This role can be based in Sydney, Newcastle, or Brisbane. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will contribute significantly to our business growth by expanding our client base and overseeing the execution of compelling projects across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific region.
What will you do

We're seeking a Senior Maritime Structural Engineer who is passionate about water-based structures, fostering local stakeholder relationships to enhance coastal environments.

As a Senior Structural Engineer specializing in Maritime projects such as bridges, wharves, dolphins, jetties, retaining walls and waterfront structures, you'll lead and oversee engineering assignments, ensuring projects meet timelines and budgets. In collaboration with colleagues, you will be open to sharing insights, be an innovative problem-solver, and your experience will be integral to the role.

Key Responsibilities:
• Execute detailed engineering projects in maritime sectors covering aluminium, steel, concrete and timber structures.
• Perform berthing and mooring studies.
• Manage small to medium-sized projects in adherence to QHSE systems.
• Develop commercial, technical, and financial proposals for engineering ventures.
• Plan and schedule project resources effectively to meet deadlines.
• Conduct engineering studies, prepare Basis of Design, reports, specification documents, engineering drawings and progress designs from concept to detailed design phases.
• Support senior team members and mentor junior engineers in technical tasks and professional growth.
• Contribute to business development by engaging with clients, preparing capability statements, and marketing materials.
• Review engineering outputs, both internal and external as required.
• Conduct site visits and condition inspections with travel as necessary.

What you bring

Key Competencies:
• Proficient technical and practical skills in structural engineering.
• Able to undertake structural modelling and analysis using software such as SPACE GASS.
• Familiarity with local and international standards, industry guidelines, codes, and specifications.
• Track record of achieving financial and business targets.
• Strong client liaison and development skills, prioritizing client satisfaction and relationship building.
• Directing and advising on technical matters, mentoring project teams effectively.
• Consistently delivering high-quality, accurate, and timely work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, adept at hosting meetings and workshops.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Excellent proficiency in English language.
• Experience in digital engineering or coding.
• 5 to 15 years' plus experience in structural engineering, preferably in consulting environment.
• Chartered with Engineers Australia
• Proficiency in writing proposals and managing small to medium projects.
Desirable:
• Chartered status with a professional engineering institution.
• Involvement in extracurricular industry activities (e.g., PIANC).
• Background and specialization in Maritime Engineering or related field.
