Responsibilities <ul><li>Key Responsibilities </li></ul>The successful applicant will take part in Coastal Engineering aspects such as: <ul><li>Pre-feasibility to detailed port &amp; coastal engineering feasibility studies, including designs and reporting</li><li>Concept up to detailed port &amp; coastal engineering designs, technical specification, capital and operational cost estimations</li><li>Evaluation and reviews</li><li>Preparation of proposals and winning work</li><li>Client liaison, managing teams and projects</li></ul>Health and Safety <ul><li>Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company's health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you</li><li>Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm</li><li>Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times</li></ul>Qualifications Qualifications and Experience Required <ul><li>BSc Eng / BEng Civil Engineering degree. </li><li>Post-graduate masters (MEng/MScEng) qualification in Port &amp; Coastal Engineering is a requirement. </li><li>3 - 7 years' relevant post graduate work experience, all in aspects of Port &amp; Coastal Engineering </li><li>Registration as Professional Engineer with ECSA will be an advantage. </li><li>Experience in any of the following aspects of Port &amp; Coastal Engineering will be an advantage: </li></ul>a. Experience with marine intake and outfall systems, including hydrodynamic on-bottom stability, hydraulic designs, diffuser configuration design and near-field modelling. b. Experience with design of coastal structures, e.g. revetments, breakwaters, shore protection and scour protection. c. Experience with evaluation of the coastal environment of a specific site, taking into account all local coastal processes (may include site reconnaissance). d. Experience in modelling/analysis of coastal processes and beach/nearshore morphology, e.g. to inform development setbacks and/or dredging requirements. e. Experience in coastal engineering and associated processes, e.g. assessments of extreme water levels (min/max), structure overtopping and wave loading. f. Experience in defining the environmental design conditions and interpretation of environmental parameters. g. Translation of numerical modelling results into representative design conditions to establish a basis of design. h. Experience in port planning and operations. <ul><li>Concept to detail design and construction drawing production on the type of projects mentioned above, demonstrating a deep understanding of the coastal processes involved in this work. </li><li>Experience in coastal engineering and other software tools will be an advantage: </li></ul>(1) AutoCAD Civil3D, Revit, BIM (2) UNIBEST-CL+, XBEACH or similar (shoreline models, storm erosion models) (3) Modelling software such as SWAN, Deltares Delft-3D and DHI Mike (4) Orcaflex <ul><li>Key competence in digital engineering and computer proficiency using MATLAB / PYTHON to facilitate designs. </li><li>Knowledge and demonstrated experience in using coastal design guidelines and standards, e.g. Rock Manual, CEM, DNV, BS codes, EuroTop. </li></ul>Key Competencies and Generic Skills <ul><li>Analytical and problem-solving thinking and approach </li><li>Ability to work effectively and to be focused on delivery </li><li>Ability to work independently by own initiative, as well as part of a team </li><li>Ability to manage and plan his/her own time and workload to meet deadlines and in line with appropriate standards </li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills, especially within a team set-up, ability to explain technical work clearly </li><li>Attention to detail </li><li>Willing and keen to learn </li><li>Creative and critical thinking in terms of challenging the normal and the abnormal </li><li>Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments </li><li>Trustworthy and a team worker, with leadership capabilities </li></ul>
