JOB TITLE: SENIOR MARINE SYSTEM ENGINEER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li>The Marine Systems Engineer plays a critical role within the onshore Global Technical Solutions (GTS) hub organisation acting as the key conduit for liaison and compliance with regulatory, classification and certifying bodies in relation to marine matters and systems.</li><li>The role acts as an ambassador for GTS and subject matter expert in ensuring that the integrity, reliability, availability and maintainability of vessels and associated equipment is optimised, such that the safety of the assets is maintained, compliance and production targets can be achieved.</li><li>Management of the relevant vendor activities, materials, spares and performance plays a key part of the position in order to drive a maximising value generation culture and elimination of waste.</li><li>Actively drive a working culture based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity </li><li>Responsible and accountable onshore engineer for the performance of all respective asset marine systems including ballast &amp; bilge, mooring system, watertight closure and marine management systems.</li><li>Investigate marine system anomalies and develop work scopes for repairs and upgrades on vessels.</li><li>Act as functional Subject Matter Expert in Marine Systems, providing coaching and development opportunities to other Engineers in the GTS team as well as across service lines.</li><li>Ownership of respective Marine Processes and Procedures.</li><li>Develop and assist with the development and updates to the maintenance routine (PMA / PM / CMA / CM) tasks in the company CMMS. </li><li>Develop excellent working relationships with on and offshore teams, technical authorities, verification and discipline engineers.</li><li>Provide expert advice on, input into and guidance on compliance with relevant Marine Performance Standards.</li><li>Accountable for input to and ownership of Marine budget as directed by client.</li><li>Deliver complex marine scopes through management of 3rd parties and/or discipline engineers.</li><li>Through proactive liaison with the relevant and appropriate bodies, drive asset compliance with regulatory and certification requirements, acting as "champion" across the portfolio.</li><li>Support the development and implementation of class inspections plans and other marine assurance documentation.</li><li>Lead and/or support as required, marine related operational risk assessments (ORA's), ensuring appropriate mitigations for associated MAH's.</li><li>Ensure appropriate liaison via the Verification Engineer with the independent verification body (bodies) on all matters related to the marine discipline and ensure adherence to Class and Flag requirements.</li><li>Actively promote and lead Incident &amp; Root Cause Analysis investigations as required, ensuring associated actions are closed out in a timely manner.</li><li>Ownership and accountability for compliance with Asset Integrated Activity Planning process of identified activity sets.</li><li>Offshore visits as required to drive active monitoring, auditing and safe delivery of Marine scopes.</li><li>As per client requirements.</li><li>Ability to apply sound engineering judgement to complex and non-routine problems.</li></ul>ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: <ul><li>Educated to degree level or equivalent standard in Marine related discipline. </li><li>Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred.</li><li>Working knowledge of marine systems within Oil &amp; Gas industry, specifically in relation to semi-submersible platforms and FPSO's.</li><li>Working knowledge of offshore legislation and vessel certification.</li><li>Strong safety ethic.</li><li>Working knowledge of CMMS (Maximo) systems.</li><li>Excellent communication skills.</li><li>Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.</li><li>Good at networking and building working relationships.</li><li>Ability interpret and follow processes and procedures.</li><li>Good organisation skills to support work in a fast-paced role.</li></ul>#LI-MB1

Our vessels provide a range of support, which include for example: dive support, military training, submarine rescue exercises, target/test equipment deployment/recovery and passenger transfers.. The post offers an exciting opportunity for the right applicant to be part of a professional multi-skilled team operating on the Raasay Ranges out of BUTEC, Kyle of Lochalsh for customers who expect and deserve the best service. As the Vessel Engineer, you will have the overall responsibility for the operational state and maintenance of all machinery and electrical equipment on board the vessel. Main accountabilities: <ul> <li>Ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all propulsion, auxiliary and deck machinery, electrical appliances, domestic installations, fittings and structures within and out with the machinery spaces and such items as may be detailed by the Company from time to time.</li> <li>Consult at least daily with the Master in order to achieve the maximum economy consistent with the minimum efficiency required of the machinery under their charge. They must keep the Master promptly and fully informed of any occurrences in the engine room which might affect navigation or the essential services under his control.</li> <li>Assist the Master to ensure compliance with all relevant Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and to ensure that all responsible Officers are familiar with Emergency Procedures, Contingency Plans and capable of operating all Safety and Pollution Prevention equipment and appliance.</li> <li>Become familiar with details of vessel's construction, machinery and operating characteristics.</li> <li>Be responsible for the overall control configuration of the vessel and all systems / equipment.</li> <li>Keep a careful account of all labour coming under their jurisdiction so that contractors' bills can be checked and to ensure suitable quality of workmanship.</li> <li>Submit accurate figures to the Master each day, showing the quantities of bunkers, lubricating oils and water consumed and remaining onboard.</li> <li>Ensure that all Planned Maintenance and both normal and emergency repair work is carried out. Ensure that all work is planned for minimum disruption to the vessel's overall programme and maximum reliability and availability of the plant.</li> <li>Carry out all Company Rules and Procedures relating to their department, making sure that Company requirements are met particularly safety, or any relevant matters.</li> <li>Be on stand by whilst entering or leaving port, in confined waters and as specifically requested by the Master or dictated by any trials programme. Short breaks may be taken from this routine, but the Vessel Engineer will ensure that they are easily contactable in order to take charge of the Engine Room.</li> <li>Make sure that navigational requests/telegraphic or other orders from bridge in so far as they affect the vessel's propulsion plant are carried out promptly.</li> <li>Make regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces so that at all times they are aware of condition and operational capability of all items of machinery.</li> <li>Personally supervise the bunkering of the vessel taking care that the quantity and quality is as ordered.</li> <li>Arrange all transfers of fuel/lube oil/ballast/fresh water, checking their plans with the Master prior to actioning.</li> <li>Schedule in port Watchkeeper to be on board at all times when machinery is being operated.</li> <li>Prepare all spare gear orders, spare gear inventory lists and ensure spares are sorted properly, all procedures as per Company instructions.
