JOB PURPOSE We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled, innovative Naval Architect to join our growing New Building Technical team. Reporting to the Vice President - President's office, Construction, Maintenance &amp; Guarantee, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the construction and repair of our global Cruise fleet. In this role, you will be required to have a strong understanding of engineering principles, enjoy working with creativity, and have excellent attention to detail. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Participates in the design and development of Cruise ships and relevant structures for new building and conversion/repair projects • Carries out detailed design plans, drawings and specifications • Provides technical support and troubleshooting during the construction and maintenance phases • Ensures that the solutions proposed are in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols • Conducts feasibility studies and risk assessments • Collaborates with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success • Follows and stays up to date with the latest advancements in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience) • Master's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering • Professional working experience as a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer • Experience with advanced materials and technologies in marine construction (preferred) • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools • Experience with Napa Onboard support and updates (preferred) • Familiarity with Environmental and Sustainability considerations in Naval design (preferred) • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations • Experience with vessels &gt; 150m (preferred) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Fluent spoken and written English VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any) The exiting right to work in the UK is preferred

New Building Naval Architect - Structures & Stability

Job Description As part of the ABS team, you will be working within an organization with several plan approval centers located across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. You will work on a variety of new build and existing ship projects both within the marine and the offshore sector as part of a medium sized team of experienced engineers. The work will involve both plan review and assistance to clients and surveyors on technical queries related to vessel structure, stability, load line, tonnage, fire protection and safety. Performs engineering design review and analysis assignments normally involving a major project or several smaller or less complex projects. These projects by nature of their complexity and difficulty require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering or science. Through broader and more technically challenging work assignments, will develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods and procedures. What You Will Do: <ul> <li>With minimal or no supervision performs detailed engineering review of plans, as assigned, for compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations and contract commitments.</li> <li>Offers technical advice to field operations and other technical offices.</li> <li>Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices but may include moderately complex problems such as the resolution of conflicting design requirements, material standards or coordination of activities among other disciplines.</li> <li>Proposes new approaches to problems encountered and makes recommendations for changes in methods, procedures or designs.</li> <li>Drafts technically accurate and timely reports, and responses.</li> <li>Interacts with clients to identify and resolve problems in the area of technical expertise.</li> <li>Prepares accurate and timely weekly reports and billing on all work performed.</li> <li>Communicates the status of the current workload to all appropriate members of the team to ensure the needs of the clients will be met.</li> <li>Works as a team member within the group, but may work autonomously most of the time.</li> <li>Implements and maintains ABS Quality System requirements relative to responsibilities after undergoing ABS Quality System training.</li> <li>You will perform work related to the following, firstly under guidance and later independently: <ul> <li>Vessel structure scantling review &amp; Stability modelling and review</li> <li>Load Line &amp; Tonnage calculations &amp; Fire and Safety plan review</li> <li>General plan approval work for a variety of marine and offshore vessel and units</li> </ul></li> <li>You will be responsible for providing work within the agreed time frame, deliverable and the applicable procedure.</li> <li>You will also take part in the management of internal and external client relationships.</li> <li>You will work as a team member within the group, but you will work autonomously, once trained, with minimal supervision.</li></ul>What You Will Need: Education and Experience <ul> <li>B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or other related disciplines; an M.S. may be preferred. </li> <li>Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software. </li> <li>Exposed to Finite Element Method (course work or supervised research).</li> <li>Working knowledge of Class Rules, and Statutory Regulations (e.g.: SOLAS, ICLL, MCA Large Yacht Code, MARPOL, SPS Code, MODU Code), </li> <li>Working knowledge of engineering software to perform structural and stability calculations. </li> <li>Design experience on small vessels (Yachts, High Speed Craft, Tugs), large vessels (Container Carrier, Tanker, Bulk Carrier) or Offshore Units </li> <li>Familiarity with ship operations and shipbuilding practices is beneficial for the role</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <ul> <li>Demonstrates understanding and ability to apply fundamental classification and quality concepts, practices and procedures.</li> <li>Knowledge of related technical disciplines required.</li> <li>The ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems (i.e., the competence to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills).</li> <li>Good command of the English language.</li> <li>Ability to communicate orally and in writing.</li> <li>Ability to work well with others.</li></ul>Reporting Relationships: The incumbent reports directly to the Director level or higher.
