About the Role: <ul><li>Dedicated to inspection for: Ships in service. A Ship in Service Surveyor is an expert acting in the Fleet Management, Classification and Statutory Certification activities. He is always under the supervision of a Ship in Service Operational Manager (SSOM or CSOM), or its deputies.</li><li>Some additional inspection for Marine &amp; Offshore equipment and/or Ships under new construction may also be assigned.</li></ul>Main Responsibilities: <ul><li>Carry out surveys, draw up and send relevant reports to the Ship in Service Operational Manager (SSOM or CSOM) or its deputies, in compliance with the Bureau Veritas procedures.</li><li>Assess the conditions necessary for carrying out surveys to the expected quality level, against its own abilities, availability and the conditions on board.</li><li>Request from his Ships in Service Operational Manager (SSOM or CSOM) or its deputies, advices or any questions he deems beyond his abilities.</li><li>Ensure the quality of his services.</li><li>Provide information and support necessary to relevant hierarchy as concerns missions involving them.</li><li>Take technical decisions on board, within the limitations of his responsibilities, as set out in the Operational Authority Limitations.</li><li>Performs inspection / survey as directed by the Ship in Service Operational Manager (SSOM or CSOM) or its deputies, on the job on the job assignment for each project.</li><li>Refers to Marine procedures and technical working instructions issued from each Technical Division of Head Office, such as PNCs or local are to be used as instruction.</li><li>Refer the Bureau Veritas Rules, standards, regulations, specifications and relevant approval drawings as technical guidance to perform jobs.</li><li>Personal protection and safety equipment, BV stamps, tools and access to databases are to be used in accordance with the provisions of work instruction.</li><li>Complete his report on the ship in service databases.</li><li>Completes the draft of records, reports and certificates requested within the requested time schedule.</li><li>Provides the information to Secretaries for invoicing.</li><li>Signs and endorses certificates / reports / attestations and other documents relating to the inspection / survey personally carried out.</li><li>Files and keeps updates the quality documents (including technical working instructions) received.</li><li>Participates in the canvassing for activities in co-ordination with the Ship in Service Operational Manager (SSOM or CSOM) or its deputies.</li><li>Refers to the Ship in Service Operational Manager (SSOM or CSOM) or its deputies, or Quality Manager for any claim or complaint received from clients (Manufacturer, Owner, Administration and other units).</li><li>When Bureau Veritas qualification will permit he will be able to Audits on board ships and at shipping client offices for statutory certification (ISM /ISPS /MLC code) as well as Marine &amp; Offshore equipment and/or Ships under new construction inspections.</li></ul>Experience &amp; Qualification: <ul><li>MEO class I certificate with 5 years of sailing experience with ship repair experience or Naval Architect with 5 Yrs of shipyard experience.</li><li>Experience with any IACS classification society will be an added advantage.</li><li>Have proven related Marine experience and sound technical knowledge.</li><li>Have good communication skills and the ability to work directly with representatives of Owners, flag and port state authorities etc.</li><li>Should be willing to travel within the India and sometimes farther afield or any voyage as may be required.</li></ul>SHAPING A WORLD OF TRUST - WHAT WE VALUE AT BV Join us to share our passion for the maritime world! MARINE SURVEYOR - SHIPS IN SERVICES - INDIA

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team, lead models on a range of projects locally and nationally, and mentor and develop other business consultants. The role requires developing relationships with clients and regulators as well as management of varied and challenging projects. You will be a key contributor within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary consultancy operating across a diverse portfolio of projects. Your responsibilities will extend beyond technical execution to include active involvement in business development, encompassing work-winning strategies, budgetary control of project finances, and the preparation of comprehensive fee proposals. You will also play a pivotal role in the strategic growth and development of this region's Water &amp; Environment Team. While working within a design office environment, you'll also be actively engaged in design and site meetings, conduct site inspections, and provide detailed progress reports. Effective communication and liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities are essential to ensure project success. Your technical expertise will be utilised in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, as well as the completion of thorough Flood Risk Assessments. You will also be tasked with bid preparation and fee proposal creation. Further, you will be expected to undertake research and contribute to the business development of potential new clients, driving the expansion of our services. ABOUT YOU To excel in this role, you will possess a strong Bachelor's degree, ideally complemented by a higher degree, in a water-related discipline and significant consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeller. You will bring substantial expertise in conducting flood risk assessments in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and, where applicable, Technical Advice Note 15 (TAN 15). However, the primary emphasis of this position lies in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, frequently utilising software such as Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of the operational frameworks of the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales, as well as Lead Local Flood Authorities. You will possess up-to-date knowledge of current planning policies and procedures and the ability to leverage these to maximise client service and secure necessary approvals. As a self-motivated team player, you will exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills. You will be capable of working autonomously while effectively coordinating with your line manager's requirements; an understanding of the developer industry would also be considered a valuable asset.
