We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Marine Surveyor - Marine Engineer to join our team of Maritime experts in a wide variety of consultancy work.

What you will be doing.
  • Attend casualties, assessing the nature, extent, and cause of damages.
  • Estimate repair costs, evaluate evidence, and prepare detailed reports for clients.
  • Provide expert witness services required for litigation purposes. This could potentially include giving evidence in court or at arbitration proceedings.
  • Engage in business development by promoting ABL Group's Engineering Consulting services to local and international clients.
  • Maintain a billable utilization rate of over 60%.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems, and regulations at all ABL premises, project sites, and client locations.
The role is based in London, although it is a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to working hours and travel to onsite attendance. The candidate must already have the right to live and work in the UK. We do not sponsor candidates for this role.

What we are looking for.

Required:
  • A qualified Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) or equivalent significant related experience and / or training.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong decision-making, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Deliver accurate, high-quality work on time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High standard of written and spoken English.
  • Hold a valid driving license.
Any of the following are desirable but not essential:
  • Experience as Chief Engineer.
  • Experience in technical ship management.
  • Relevant courses, such as high voltage.
  • Knowledge of marine insurance and admiralty law.
  • Proficient in vessel dry dockings, machinery damage, and repairs.
  • Experience of public speaking, authoring industry articles, and a professional network.
  • Membership of a professional body such as IMarEST.
