INFORMATION ABOUT THE ROLE

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE PEOPLE OF HARTLEPOOL:

HBC's Flood and Coastal Team are responsible for managing, maintaining and implementing coastal defence and flooding solutions to protect the borough of Hartlepool and its residents.

DEPARTMENT: Development Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services

SERVICE: Consultancy Services

LOCATION: Civic Centre

LINE MANAGER: Consultancy Manager

SALARY: Band 13 - £43,421 - £47,420

ANNUAL LEAVE: 29 Days (+5 long service after 5 years)

HOURS: 37h/Week (flexible working including formal flexi scheme).

MEET THE TEAM

HBC's Consultancy Services section, is a successful, multi-disciplinary design team who have a track record of delivering services to a wide range of internal and external clients with a healthy pipeline of projects. The team comprises disciplines such as Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building Services, Building Management and Legionella. The section have been recognised both regionally and nationally by bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, Constructing Excellence and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association.

SOME KEY THINGS THAT WE WANT YOU TO DO...
  • Lead the Flood and Coastal Team
  • Manage HBC's Flood and Coastal Asset Management Programme
  • Lead on the delivery of major capital projects
  • Support internal and external clients on matters relating to FCERM
  • Develop a long-term Asset Management and Maintenance Programme
  • Provide professional advice to colleagues within the Consultancy Services
  • Provide financial control and management of the relevant revenue and capital budgets
  • Help to increase income generation and reduce overheads.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Educated to degree level in relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering
  • Flood and Coastal Engineering experience
  • Experience of managing, supporting and developing staff in a Team Leader role.
  • Management of revenue and capital budgets
SKILLS, ABILITY AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent communications skills
  • Working knowledge of current legislation
  • Working knowledge of Flood and Coastal Engineering
  • Effective management of a team
