Location: Melbourne, VIC

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate or Early Career Coastal Engineer or Marine Scientist to join our Oceans and Environmental team based in Melbourne.

Working closely with colleagues across our national Oceans and Environmental teams, you will contribute to a diverse range of marine environmental and engineering projects. This role offers the chance to apply your technical knowledge to real-world challenges and develop your expertise under the guidance of experienced professionals.

What you will be involved in

You will play an active role in projects that may include:
  • Offshore renewable energy developments
  • Port development and dredging impact studies and port and harbour developments and decommissioning.
  • Oil spill risk assessments and monitoring
  • Wastewater discharge studies
  • Marine mammal, fish, benthic and seabird surveys
  • Environmental impact and risk assessments
Project approvals, such as referrals under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act) and Victorian Environment Effects Act (EE Act), management plans for the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR) and NOPSEMA and Victorian Marine and Coastal Act consent applications
  • Water quality and sediment transport studies
  • Assisting with project management of small to medium projects, including budgets, schedules, invoicing and client liaison
  • Participating in field work, including vessel-based activities, diving and marine and seabird surveys
  • Contributing to high-quality technical reports and documentation
  • Collaborating with RPS and Tetra Tech specialists across disciplines including marine ecology, coastal engineering health and safety and communications
  • We also provide training and development in advanced modelling techniques to support a wide range of practical applications, as well as opportunities to build your project management skills.
About you

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual who is eager to contribute to meaningful marine and coastal projects. You will have:
  • A degree in a relevant engineering or marine science discipline
  • Recent graduates OR early career scientists and engineers with 0-4 years' experience in a similar role
  • A sound theoretical and practical understanding of oceanography, coastal or marine science, seabird and shorebird or other marine ecology
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and confidently
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Matlab, Python or GIS software is advantageous
