Marine Superintendent

The following position has become available at Amawandle Pelagic in Laaiplek. The incumbent will report to the Senior Marine Superintendent.

The Marine Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our marine vessels. They are responsible for overseeing maintenance, compliance with regulations, and optimizing vessel performance to support our company's maritime operations.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Supervise and coordinate vessel maintenance, repair, and operation.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage resources and budgets to support cost-effective marine operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to vessel crews to promote a culture of safety and professionalism.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to assess vessel condition and compliance with safety standards.
  • Handle emergencies and incidents that may arise during vessel operations effectively.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Engineering qualification
  • Previous experience working in a marine-related role, preferably as a Marine Superintendent or in a similar capacity.
