Marine Superintendent
Function
The Marine Superintendent is responsible for:
• Safety culture onboard vessels
• Complying with regulations
• Ensuring vessel delivers safe and effective navigation and cargo operations
• Monitoring the safety, navigation, cargo and commercial readiness of the vessel.
• Assisting in continual improvement of HSQEEn procedures
• Identifying training needs for ship personnel
• Identifying security risk associated and preparing vessel for the voyage

Tasks
Marine Superintendent shall:
• Assist the vessel in navigation, safety or cargo related issues.
• Guide vessel in cargo operations including stowage plan, tank cleaning
• Assist Master to ensure cargo suitability and compatibility
• Assist with oil major requirements for commercial fixture
• Review vessels for STS operations
• Monitor weather reports and advise the vessel in routeing
• Assist vessel in HRA transit including arranging of armed guards
• Monitor rest hour records
• Review and approve JSA's
• Review HSE meetings /USA/USC/Near Miss/Drill reports
• Assist in scheduling vetting inspections and preparing response to vetting observations
• Schedule and prepare vessels for external audits and inspections
• Conduct safety inspection onboard
• Review and close the PMS jobs (marine)
• Verify audit/inspection/incident related CAR's and close WO's
• Investigate incidents as per company procedure
• Initiate and implement MOC as per company procedure
• Liaise with flag, class, P&I / H&M in consultation with FM
• Participate in Ship/Shore drills, training programs and seminars
• Member of the crisis management team
• Conduct interview of deck officers
• Conduct pre-joining briefing of deck officers, Master and CE
• Appraise Master prior completion of contract
• Follow up on the Navigation/Safety campaigns to ensure proper implementation
• Take over and hand over of vessels
• Any other tasks allocated by the FM

Substitute-Marine Superintendent
Minimum Experience-2 years' experience in a senior management position on board on tankers
& 1-year experience in a similar rank in shore-based position
Minimum Qualifications-Master's Certificate of Competency
