As our Marine Surveyor, where you'll perform key surveying tasks and contribute to delivering exceptional service within your area of responsibility. You'll gain expertise across our business lines, manage your chargeable work, and support seamless surveyor coverage. In addition, you will:
- Conduct maritime surveys and inspections.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of ABL Maritime services and their key deliverables.
- Respond to marine casualties to assess the nature, extent, and cause of damage.
- Estimate repair costs and prepare detailed reports for clients.
- Engage in business development to promote Maritime Engineering Consulting services to both local and international clients.
- Support the marketing efforts of ABL Maritime and its range of services.
- Maintain a personal billable utilization rate of over 60%.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering or be a Merchant Marine Academy graduate with seagoing experience, alongside experience in maritime surveying and consultancy. Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational abilities are essential, paired with a focus on delivering high-quality work and fostering collaboration. In addition, you will:
- 5-10 years of relevant experience within the Maritime surveying and consultancy industry.
- Experience with vessel dry-docking, machinery damage and repairs.
- Good decision-making capability with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
- Accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously.
- Well-organized and self-directed individual with strong business/commercial skills.
- Forward-thinking with high ethical standards and appropriate professional image.
- Outgoing and pragmatic with strength of character, proactive and insightful with good man management skills.
- Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- OVID and/or CMID surveyor qualifications and applicable experience is an advantage.
- Shore-based management experience.
- Seagoing experience on tankers or dry cargo vessels.
- Previous experience with Marine Insurance and Admiralty Law is an advantage.
