We have an exciting opportunity for a Marine Surveyor to join our team of Maritime experts in our office in Varna, Bulgaria.
What you will be doing.
As a Marine Surveyor, you will conduct marine surveying tasks and assist in the delivery of business to provide sufficient surveyor coverage in the geographic area of responsibility. Getting familiarized with all aspects of ABL Marine services and key deliverables while undertaking own chargeable time. In addition, you will:
Flexibility regarding working hours, willingness to travel and work within a variety of time zones - offshore travel, is a requirement of the job. Good reporting skills in English is mandatory: consistency, clarity, conciseness, grammar & spelling correctness will also be required.

As a Marine Surveyor, you will conduct marine surveying tasks and assist in the delivery of business to provide sufficient surveyor coverage in the geographic area of responsibility. Getting familiarized with all aspects of ABL Marine services and key deliverables while undertaking own chargeable time. In addition, you will:
- Learn and familiarize yourself with all aspects of ABL Maritime services
- Develop expertise across all business lines, understanding key services and deliverables
- Attend marine warranty surveys - towage approvals, float on/float off dry towage, and single voyages.
- Attend marine warranty surveys - load-in/load-out, stowage, lashing, and securing for ocean transportation
- Attend marine warranty surveys onshore and offshore.
- Conduct vessel suitability survey and audits
- Conduct Cargo surveys
- Attend P&I cases
- Attending casualties and determining the nature, extent and cause of damage
- Estimating costs of repairs and subsequently compiling reports for Clients.
- Assist in organizing contract staff to conduct surveys on behalf of ABL
- Maintain a billable utilization rate above 60%, ensuring effective time management.
- Other duties as assigned.

Essential-
- Operational Chief Engineer/1st Engineer (STCW class 1)/Master/ Chief Officer or equivalent with significant survey/marine consultancy-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience within the Marine Sector.
- Good decision-making capability with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
- Accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
- Assertive and buoyant, forward-thinking with high ethical standards and appropriate professional image.
- Well-organized and self-directed individual with strong business/commercial skills.
- Outgoing and pragmatic with strength of character, proactive and insightful with good management skills.
- Held command Master/Chief Mate or Chief Engineer/First Engineer position on board.
- Shore-based management experience.
- Previous experience in a similar role, Technical superintendent, or Marine superintendent would be desirable.
- Other applicable experience (salvage master, SCR, pilot, etc)
- Experience with marine surveying or consultancy.
- Experience in marine surveys including warranty, vessel and asset inspections, audits, surveys, damage surveys, and project/vessel management is a significant advantage.
