Job Description

DNV is seeking a Senior Surveyor to join our Panama Station within the Maritime Region Americas. In this role, you will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for delivering high-quality survey and auditing services to the traditional shipping segments operating in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. You will work closely with both internal teams and clients to ensure compliance with maritime standards and contribute to the safety, integrity, and sustainability of global shipping operations. This role will be based out of our Panama Station office, in Panama.

What You'll Do
  • Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times.
  • When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner.
  • Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.
  • Exhibit customer oriented focus through promoting DNV GL onboard or on-site, and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

What is Required
  • Education: Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field. A University degree is preferred, but a technical degree or equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the maritime or marine surveying industry.
  • Technical Competencies: Qualifications as a class and statutory surveyor are required.
  • Behavioral Competencies: Strong team player with the ability to work independently during surveys and inspections.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 25% of the year, primarily to Latin America and the Caribbean (approximately 65% of travel time).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks related to the role, including climbing pilot ladders and tanks, flying, using helicopters, and participating in crew boat launches and voyage surveys.
  • Language Proficiency: Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Additional Skills: A positive, proactive attitude, with the ability to adapt to varying work schedules, including weekends and night shifts as required.
