Objectives of the Position
  • Administration and the operationalization of BASF's Survey Services in Asia Pacific Region which includes of periodical KPI measurements and reviews and driving the optimization of survey services for BASF and related BASF entities (where applicable).
  • Steering, reviewing, harmonizing and supervising surveyors' activities which include bulk vessel loading surveys, bulk vessel discharging surveys, transhipment point surveys, bulk terminal and peripherals surveys and any other survey requirements defined to be in scope of a surveyor.
  • Assisting Operating Division's Supply Chain and Product Quality unit / Quality Management team in the implementation of new test parameters for products shipped under bulk parcel.
  • Support Business Units by collaborating with them on harmonizing the requirements of surveyor services for core matters to be able to determine surveyor service scope details for procurement to procure.
Main Tasks

  • Developing and managing KPI's for Surveyors and managing the performance of the surveyors.
  • Where possible, initiate standardization of cargo analysis practices for Asia-Pacific region.
  • Supporting matters pertaining to cargo/product gain & loss for product storage and product shipping.
  • Work closely with all relevant stakeholders covering shipowners, brokers, shippers, receivers, terminals, related BASF entities in ensuring seamless delivery of survey services and where necessary lend support to any event of issue resolution where required.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance by surveyor to all Distribution Safety Codes of bulk cargoes
  • Support with the compilation, monitoring and evaluation of surveyor services including information and statistics and other related matters to enable continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of the service.
  • Managing cargo and product gain & loss for product storage and product shipping.
  • Leading the investigation of product quality incidents and conduct root cause analysis to prevent repeated incidents.
  • Developing surveyor performance dashboard to be presented to the Operating Divisions to showcase the performance of the surveyors.
  • Support Global Bulk Parcel Operations shipping team in ship preparedness (Wall Wash Test Preparation, surveyor support and other requirements).
  • Working with procurement team in assisting them in providing more accurate contractual contents for service description and service catalogue.
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

  • A degree/professional qualification Quantity Survey Degree or Marine Cargo Survey
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in operations working with a reputable surveyor company and have hands on experience Chemical or Liquid Bulk shipping surveys.
  • Someone who have experience in parcel tank operations and tank terminal operations will be added advantage
  • Possesses excellent communication skills (written and spoken), analytically inclined and able to work with minimum supervision, proactive, result-oriented and a good team player
  • Experience in Supply Chain processes as well as ability to report and work with remote managers and teams.
