The role is vital for ensuring safety and efficiency in offshore facilities. Responsibilities include adhering to safety regulations, managing Safety Management System procedures, operating and maintaining machinery, and overseeing operations.
Qualification and Requirements:
- Master Class 1 (Chief Mate)
- Preference for Watchkeeper - Deck Certificate of Competency (Oil Tanker endorsement)
- Preference for GMDSS General Operator Certificate
- Ideally minimum of 2-5 yrs. Previous offshore experience.
- To work in compliance with the Safety Case and all relevant Conventions, Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes of Practice, industrial agreements and Company directives, policies, plans, objectives, procedures and methods
- To originate, check and review relevant Safety Management System procedures and work instructions
- To operate, monitor and record, adjust, fault-find, isolate, maintain, repair and test Facility machinery, equipment and systems as per the Facility Maintenance Management System (MMS), breakdown requirements and the Safety Management System
- To undertake changes or modifications to plant, equipment, machinery or systems as per Engineering Change procedures and approved requests (ECR)
- To close-out jobs and provide detailed data input into the MMS
- To provide First Aid and medical attention as required and/or advised by a medical practitioner
- To act-up as Operations Supervisor if qualified and when required
- To monitor, adjust and record the Facility condition, integrity, stress and stability in line with operational parameters and requirements
- To perform cargo, ballast, produced water, bilge and slops loading, transfer and discharge activities on the Facility as directed
- To prepare cargo tanks, ballast tanks and void spaces for entry as required for inspection and maintenance (including COW and water wash activities and relevant non electrical marine isolations).
- To calculate daily oil and water figures for crude oil, slops and ballast tanks
- To provide Facility personnel with on-the-job familiarisation, training and support
- To develop, disseminate and maintain accurate reports and records (regulatory Class eg ORB, LGR, operational and other as required)
- To complete the Company required job competence training, report any competency problems to the Operations Supervisor or Offshore Installation Manager and submit copies of the training certification to the Company
- To perform the role of Inside Helicopter Landing Officer (IHLO) (Support Coordinator task)
- To maintain, calibrate, select, challenge and use portable gas detectors
- To undertake routine sampling and laboratory analysis
- To liaise with the Support Coordinator to order consumables and spare parts required through the MMS, within budget constraints or as authorised by the Operations Supervisor
- To undertake other duties as required from time to time by the Company
- To take command of a lifeboat or life raft as required
- To undertake supervisory duties as delegated
