Business Need / Purpose of Role
Role - Marine Surveyor - Trainee.
Location - Port Louis, Mauritius.
Reporting - Senior Surveyor.
The Marine Surveyor - Trainee will assist the Senior Surveyor in conducting cargo surveys, draft surveys, and out-turn surveys. This entry-level role provides hands-on training and mentorship to develop the necessary skills to become a qualified marine surveyor.

Business Need / Purpose of Role
Role - Marine Surveyor - Trainee.
Location - Port Louis, Mauritius.

The Marine Surveyor - Trainee will assist the Senior Surveyor in conducting cargo surveys, draft surveys, and out-turn surveys. This entry-level role provides hands-on training and mentorship to develop the necessary skills to become a qualified marine surveyor.
Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting various types of marine surveys, including cargo, draft, and out-turn surveys.
- Support the preparation of comprehensive reports within three days of survey completion.
- Gain practical knowledge through on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices in all survey activities.
- Ensure ships agency services are rendered to all customers at an excellent level.
- On-Site Coordination - Physical attendance onboard ships or sites, when necessary (be able to board vessels when required across port and environment), providing on-site coordination of services and deliveries.
- Coordinate Arrival, Sailing Arrangements and Collect/Record Statement of Facts (SOF) & Other Documents.
- Continually seek new methods to reduce operational costs and find efficiencies for the port office to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain a smooth, quick turnaround of vessels, advising local authorities on vessel details keeping all relevant parties informed while meeting all KPI's.
- Competent user of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Being able to communicate verbally/writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Balance multiple tasks, changing priorities & operate within a deadline-oriented environment.
- Good interpersonal relationship in managing people/sub-ordinates, planning, organizing.
- Excellent attention to minute details.
- Self-driven, organized, good communication skills.
- Strong planning and coordination skills.
- Strong Problem Solving & Analytical Skills.
- Excellent Time Management Skills.
- Having a global perspective and possess a progressive thinking skill.
- 1 years' knowledge of port/shipping operations in Mauritius.
- Having a good knowledge of customer base and their requirements.
- Experience of working to pre-defined processes and procedures and delivering work in accordance to SLA (Service Level Agreements).
- A relevant Diploma/Degree shall be appreciated.
