The role
As the Quality Assurance Engineer at Damen Naval you drive excellence in supplier quality assurance for our cutting-edge naval shipbuilding projects. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in optimizing supplier QA processes and procedures for your assigned naval shipbuilding project. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough Quality Assurance Audits at supplier locations across Western Europe, as well as providing expert oversight, guidance, and comprehensive reporting on any subsequent quality issues. This position requires frequent travel to supplier sites within Western Europe.

The role
As the Quality Assurance Engineer at Damen Naval you drive excellence in supplier quality assurance for our cutting-edge naval shipbuilding projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough Quality Assurance Audits at supplier locations across Western Europe, as well as providing expert oversight, guidance, and comprehensive reporting on any subsequent quality issues. This position requires frequent travel to supplier sites within Western Europe.
Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Supplier QA Audits & Action: Conduct audits, report findings, and drive necessary actions at suppliers.
- Manage Supplier Quality Risks: Maintain risk register and implement mitigation plans.
- Advance Supplier QA Standards: Contribute to adapting and applying QA principles.
- Ensure Quality Process Application: Verify correct use of supplier quality protocols.
- Implement Tailored QA for Suppliers: Design custom QA processes as needed.
- Provide Strategic Quality Updates: Report supplier QA status and issue mitigation to project management.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- 4+ years in Quality Assurance Management, ideally within naval, defense, shipbuilding, or complex industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes, preferably in shipbuilding.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in quality assurance, Technical Business Administration, Maritime Technology, Shipbuilding, or equivalent technical field.
- Excellent command of English (written & spoken) is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting quality audits and managing supplier quality risks.
- Solid understanding of QA standards and principles, with a proven ability to contribute to their application and implementation.
- Readiness and capability for frequent travel to supplier locations across Western Europe.
- Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
